On the other hand, they don't want to train gamers to wait a year and pick up the DLCs cheap; they probably wouldn't discount full games if there weren't so many copies kicking around in the retail channels.

It does seem a bit steep to pay that much for additional content, but if you just buy one at a time, it'll only have a minor impact on your overall budget. Unless it's more of a principle not to support this type of DLC model, of course.

I support the idea of additional content for a fee. I understand that need. What I can't support is the price for the content provided. I look at all the games that are built from the ground up and are sold at $60. Then I see a DLC that adds a single mission to an already completed game. The assets are all there. But they want 1/4 or 1/6 the price of a new game.Ajensis wrote...
I'm guessing you don't count From Ashes as a major DLC? Poor Javik feels sad now :-P

I just can't support that markup. When the price is more appropriate, like $5 or $7, I'll get behind it. Afterall, I purchased the Deluxe Upgrade ($5) when it went on sale a couple of weeks back. If Bioware wants some extra cash, they'll make similar changes to the current DLC for guys like me.

From Ashes was on-disc DLC, released on Day One, and it was (temporarily)exclusive to the Collector's Edition. It's quite relevant in terms of story-telling, but because of the points mentioned, I decide to leave it out.

Just buy Citadel then. It's by far the best DLC of any Mass Effect game, and one of the best DLC's this generation.
The problem is that I have a completionist complex, and I'm wondering if Leviathan or the Omega DLC are mentioned in Citadel, which is the only one I want, but if they are, I fear I might miss on a few lines of inconsequential dialogue..

On the one hand, they're leaving money on the table by not pricing the DLCs cheaper. They've probably sold nearly all the copies of Leviathan they're ever going to sell at list.

I doubt us extra-budget-restricted players are in the majority..I don't wish to crash their profit margins, I just want don't want to pay $40 for 3 DLC. Why can't they do it like all the cool kids and sell a Season Pass at a discount?

So, is Citadel worth the price?

The From Ashes DLC was never exclusive to the Collectors Edition, for any length of time.Rodia Driftwood wrote...

It was Day One DLC for everyone, no matter the version they bought. The only difference between the Standard and Collectors Edition was that the latter got the DLC for free.
And yes I must agree with everyone else. Citadel is worth every penny of its cost.
Bioware seemed to forget that the reason we loved the universe was the characters in it, not the pew-pew action (though Citadel certainly has its share of that.)
Citadel returns the focus back to the characters, where it should have been all along.
