What I mean is if you're PUGin' rather than with friend or soloing.  Does your inpression of the others in the lobby sometimes change your loadout?

If there's one that looks on paper to be okay I might choose a kit for synergy, Paladin/Geth Eng for example.
But if they look a little ropey but I don't want to bail I might choose something more tanky.

Valkyrie its preset to FBW or I'm wearing TryHardPants 
Huntress I'm in full survival/Solo mode

PUGs don't influence anything with me. They can do whatever PUGs do, and i'll continue to supply them with credits because I've got nothin' better to do.

In all honesty, I don't even need three decoys. I only need three players to help with objectives in case it turns out to be a bad one.

So no, I play what I wanna play.

I've found long ago that keeping expectations low on pugs is the best way to deal with them.

On Gold not really on Platinum I'm restricted to around 10 kits that I know I can carry with if need be. Once I access how good or bad the team is I may change to whatever I want to play if the lobby stays together.

Unless it's filled with grenade users when I'm one too, it really doesn't matter.

or i'm running an adept and see a lot of disruptor ammo readied up in the lobby.

Sometimes.... Wen I need to level up a level 1 character, then I choose the same character as someone else. Just to be annoying.

Gold I play what I want, period. If the team looks to be somewhat in sync (all techs, all biotics, etc) then I'll use something that fits that, but otherwise I play what the beat says play.

Platinum I have to play my best because pugs WILL let you down.

Not really, if I'm pugging, I will take something that is survivable and can clutch if needed. Right now that is a BatSol with a Harrier.

If I see a PUG Paladin, I generally try to either go for a kit that I specced with two Chain Overload evolutions, Shadow, or the Krolord for delicious beefy 4k damage Cryo Explosions. Otherwise, I generally do not check my teammate's loadout.

Every now and then, I might switch kits for an attempt at synergy, but most times, I'll play what I want. However, I do leave lobbies with more than one flamer user in it, or lobbies with a flamer user equipped with only an acolyte

I adapt to PUG lobbies if I need to in situations like:

-there are too many grenade users
-biotic/tech team
-team composed of the same race (all Krogan games are so much fun!)

If the lobby is leaning toward biotics and I have something else selected, I'll change to a biotic, which one depends on what else is in the lobby.

If there are a couple of tech characters I'll select a tech character, or at least a soldier that complements them.

Even with public games I try to complement the other players with my character choice.

Judging from the thread I guess I'm the only one.

No, no one believes in team synergy... I see you using your power but for some reason when I come around all you want to do is shoot.... FE BE CE TE TB all hit the airlock..... or better yet I just used Dark Channel so what do you do .... use the same damn power

Yesterday I dropped into a pug lobby with two biotics, so I switched from my Venom SI to the Fury. The fourth player was a lvl 20 Reegar TGI who nuked spawns on extraction. Seriously, why?

I fell into a lobby like that the other day actually.  It was on Hydra.  I think he only got one or two on extraction though.

Last thing I want is to be a BatSol trying to light the world on fire while in a lobby full of TGIs and AIUs eating stimpacks like they were Skittles.

Sometimes I do. I like explosions and if I see someone who looks like they know what they're doing I'll switch to play off each other.
