I adapt to PUG lobbies if I need to in situations like:

-there are too many grenade users

And that's it for me.

From now on anytime I see a Destroyer with a Striker not using any consumables, I'm going to switch to a character with Shockwave and continually spam it beside them ... how's that for synergy?

Or ar you so badazz that you only need three decoys.

That's a false dichotomy, right there.

What I mean is if you're PUGin' rather than with friend or soloing.  Does your inpression of the others in the lobby sometimes change your loadout?

Not really. I play whatever I like. If someone doesn't like it (which happens very seldom) I see an X against my name and I get the message, which to me matters more than someone else's imagined notion of what others might happen to think.

yes, if im playing biotic as usual and i get into a lobby with 3 techies, then i will change to something more suitable like TurSent, Geth Eng or Ghost. If im playing drell adept and theres another grenade user, i will consider switching.

More often though, i see lobbies that look bad and just leave to find another one.

In all honesty, I don't even need three decoys. I only need three players to help with objectives in case it turns out to be a bad one.

So no, I play what I wanna play.

I've found long ago that keeping expectations low on pugs is the best way to deal with them.

I've nothing to add. Just prepare for a solo anyway.

You could also go with the VorSent...Flamer with the occasional cluster grenade mixed in. They'll love it.

The last two times I've done a class change and equipped to fit a lobby I find out at least one or more of the other players has now changed to something else. pita.

Usually not, but there are exceptions such as:

Lobby of grenade users = No grenade character
Lobby of biotics = No tech characters, as I hate when Tech powers override my biotics, why make others suffer
Lobby of Jugs = Nope
Lobby of Glithcers = Unequip all gear and pray to the RNG gods that the Wave 3 objective is pizza delivery. Promptly use all consumables in an attempt to fail the mission. If objective is not pizza delivery, leave.

Meh. I'm not afraid to say that I adjust for the lobby. Lots of biotics? I put my QME away. Lots of tech? Sorry HA. Too few grenades? Sorry drellguard.

That said, I don't change the character due to the perceived skill of the lobby - if I feel like experimenting with a melee vorcha, I will. But the scrubbiness of the lobby can affect my consumable use (good lobby? no armor consumable for my GI. All N7 <120? cyclonic 3 thank you very much).

PUGs don't phase me. I'll keep using my same loadout I loaded into the lobby with.

If I'm hopping game to game, not as likely. If I find a lobby worth sticking with I'll switch accordingly. So many times players forget they have powers and play like geth troopers.

No, not usually. But if the PUGs are really trying and getting nowhere, I'll pull out a stupid OP class to help them (i.e. Geth Trooper with maxed Fortification). If they're just leechers, I'll finish the game (if I couldn't back out in time) and leave them to their stompings.

BSN you never disappoint, pretty much the answers I expected.

We are BSN and randoms are nothing.

I'm not saying that I always change either just sometimes I just think that the QMS is probably a bad idea and Krogsent is a better one.

What brought it to mind was a game the other day. Dropped in on wave 3 and had my gold revive medal by wave7. But they weren't really bad so stuck around for a second game. They were all fairly well experienced and all changed to kits with Reegars that made me want to step things up a little so put on my Valkyrie/Talon. It was a fun game, I don't often go for score it just felt right to do so.

I've been grinding out the waves for my last set of challenges, so no, I will pick Batarians and Krogan until those are done. However, I like to at least promote the illusion of synergy, so yeah, under normal circumstances, I tend to pick classes that will go better with my team. Even if the synergy is purely accidental, I feel good about it hehe.

I used to change to kits that could detonate ammo powers/biotic explosions/etc but would get kick voted after the game for 'not doing anything' as one message put it. Forget that the match was sub 20 minutes and forget that I actually caused most of the damage, in spite of you getting the kill. Now I just kill things and play what kit I want to play and forget everyone else because they aren't helping me anyway.

There are ways to synergize with a team without actually switching to an all biotics/tech squad. If someone is struggling I try to help him/her out; if someone is okay going rambo killing stuff that's okay as well. I was there myself and I know the feeling - I empatize. I've accidentally landed in a squad with biotics in them and not everyone has appreciated me trying to prime or detonate stuff.

I've seen spawn nuking, I've seen people go all out trying to get as much score as possible. Why should that let me influence the way I play the game and enjoy it even if I did end at the very bottom sometimes? I do appreciate the company though, randoms that they are. There are those likeminded like myself and I see that more often than not in the varied kits/playstyles I encounter in the PUGs. Not every match is the same and not everyone thinks the same.

If I really don't like something I leave the lobby after the game. If others dislike my kits or playstyle they leave as well. That's just the way it is for me.

Just saying that different people have different reasons for playing the way they do. It might so happen that I end up in a lobby where similar kits might have been selected just by accident. They may not actually be interested in synchronizing, other than to help each other to get through the game. It has happened to me.

On the other hand, it would probably help if I had a mic. I could just ask. Oh, well....

I don't really switch up that much, but then again, I barely play this game anymore.

The few times I do play, I choose the map and enemy, and grab something I've been missing in my life (dat Vorcha warcry...), and go to town.

Sometimes I'll run into a newbie. That's normally when I switch it up. Be their wingman. Tis always fun when you can visually see a new one realize that Power 1 + Power 2 = Explosion.

If the pugs look promising, I may switch to something that will synergize with the rest of the team. On the other hand, I still try to make sure I can solo with said kit in the event I have to clutch multiple waves...

To be honest, everytime I do change to synergize with a pug team it usually backfires. Ie, teammates that don't understand primer/detonator mechanics, players that won't detonate a primed target, or players that spend the back half of the match on their face...

Er, no. ... Sometimes the weapons may get more powerful, but usually I play with what I'm in the mood for, or the challenge I'm re-doing. So I pug with whatever & whoever. As winning don't matter to me much anymore... except sometimes for them challenges. But in these cases, I never lose more then 50%, so I'll always get my 10 extractions before 200 wave character challenge... only exception is the Earth characters who have 10 extractions, but no 200 wave extraction. :P

I do, because that's what the experience thought me to do, unless I get picky with players in the lobby. Since I don't like doing that and I like to play with anyone (hard enough to find a non-started, not too laggy, non-Geth lobby already), I just go on minding my own business and dragging the team towards extraction pretty much no matter what. Then if the players happen to be competent, it's just better ;)

Edit: let me add that, in the rare case the the players are good and that the lobby sticks together for more games, then I start to behave differently and care about what others play, and change my kit accordingly, and even change my course to revive them sometimes.
