Mainly because it makes me kill things slower and is annoying when I don't get grenades

I change to GI/Destroyer if it just screams BACKPACK TIME.
Same as the Smoking Hot Lady Horse on not being a grenadier in a squad of grenadiers, too much squabbling at the box.
Otherwise, I just change my Disruptor ammo if I land in a Biotic Death squad.

On Gold and Plat, I actually tend to get lucky by landing in UK lobbies. Those guys seem to know what they're doing more often than not, and I don't need to adjust much.

1.) leave if I'm a grenade user because it's going to be kind of an annoying game anyway and we'll all hate each other in the end
2.) stay and play a non-grenade class.
3.) Drell Adept with Adrenaline Mod III.
Otherwise, I don't switch. I'll sometimes leave a lobby if the synergy is going to be poor but I want to play a particular kit, which matters right now because I'm still grinding banner waves.

If I see that no one is using grenades I might pick the vorcha sentinel or the MQE for an game, and if I see 2-3 biotics I might pick warp ammo.
But this is all.
