We already know that all teachers at Beacon are accomplished Huntsmen and Huntresses in their own rights.
Most of all though I find myself wondering how borderline extreme this guy must be in combat:
Teacher Bartholomew Oobleck. His attitude during class certainly commands a quite significant level of respect by so casually reprimanding students like Cardin aswell as chastizing lacking students like Jaune and still being caring enough to be genuinely happy when the latter appeared to be participating in class. Plus, if his hyperactivity is anything to go by, he should be a hell of a lot faster than even our residual lightning bruiser Ruby Rose. And I wouldn't even put it aside that this would actually be his "slow" pacing for his normal days. Just imagine how unbelievably fast he might be if he really tries.
I bet this guy is hella scary in a fight if he wants to!

Maybe he's a hand-to-hand specialist?
Think about it, fast enough to outrun anything that's tough and his strikes should be fast enough that even with a lean figure like his, they should do enough damage to anything that is fast enough to give chase. And let's not forget those legs. Someone who's good at running is also naturally prodiginous at kicking the living daylights out of stuff.
And really, I like the idea of a history teacher who beats monsters to death with his bare hands and feet for a living. Imagine the look on Cardin's, or pertty much any student's face when he'd go to town against a group of Grimm like that.
NO ONE would skip his classes any longer.
