We're introduced to all the big players really quick (RWBY, JNPR, The villains, Sun and Neptune), the food fight while ridiculous, allowed for us to see everyone's fighting style and get a grasp on everyone's personality.

And Pyrrha going Magneto was awesome.

Unlike Volume 1s first episode it just felt better paced and I honestly want to keep watching. Instead of going "Oh well maybe it gets better" like I did a year ago.

Who else was thinking "Loituma Ren"? How long do you guys think until the appropriate .gif will hit the internet (unless it has been done already, you never know)?

 

 

As for the episode itself:

It was good for what the series stands for. The choreography was good, at times even exceptional in my opinion, though I had a light urge to facepalm at the setup for it. Then again RWBY never promised to be serious, so it's just my preference that was haunting me there. Also, it's official now: Nora > Yang.

 

And the pun was dreadful. I hope that was intentional, because I have grown to expect better from Barbara after having seen the assorted Roosterteeth videos on the side.

 

Torchwick continues to be classy and the supporting characters for Cinders make a nice first impression.

I also greatly enjoyed how the fandom's trailer fueled "Weiss' gonna die, nooooooooo" was soundly trolled. Well played, RT. I'm not usually for giving points for this sort of things, but this was an enjoyable kind of evil for once.

The food battle was awesome, from the choreography to the cheesy lines of dialogue. I'm afraid Team JNPR really did a number on Team RWBY. Pity that Jaune was nowhere to be found though. And how could I have forgotten about the return of the Punkelman! I'm sorry but that was Barbara through and through, no sign of the Yang there.
