Well, I'm not so sure that I entirely agree with you, ClonesLegacy. I know that when I was in high school I would be prone to do some irrational stuff because I was disappointed in myself, so I felt like other people were disappointed in me. Jaune seems like a character that is about personal growth. He doesn't want to draw strength from other people; he wants to draw strength from himself. What he doesn't realize is that learning to accept help (especially from a person like Pyrrha) is part of becoming a stronger and better person. He seemed to learn from his mistake by the end of the arc, and that is what gives me confidence that he will become competent sooner rather than later. That is, of course, assuming that the RWBY staff doesn't want to make him the comic relief character of the show.

Narrative wise, and character wise Jaune acts out of character. He has no real reason to be mad or disappointed. Either hold off on it. Or give Jaune a bigger boot for motivation. Here's how I would've done it.

It's a team sparring match, JNPR Vs. CRDL. Jaunes incompetence in tactics, teamwork, and combat gets the rowdy CRDL boys to got a bit over the edge and they hurt either Nora or Ren (Not seriously, but enough)

That way we have some stakes, and makes Jaune realize he can't coast by in Beacon because there are others that rely on him now, and it involves all of Jaunes Team in the events than just Pyrrha.

There done. That took half a minute to come up with with my one brain.

RWBY had 3!

Will a Mister Gavino Free please make your way to the stage, Mister Gavino Free please make your way to the stage, thank you

Ah, yes. It would be entertaining to have him step up to the plate. Would he be capable of doing voice acting? That remains to be seen.

Jaune absolutely has reason to feel disappointed and mad. He's already revealed how he got in to Beacon, and he knows he's nowhere close to as good as his peers.

If you go back to the OP and watch the Yellow Trailer, you know Junior? Voiced by Jack Pattillo? Originally Gavin was going to voice him but they realized that Gavin was too good for another role and he had to be saved for it.

I gave him MORE of a reason.

And like I said my version would have Nora and Ren more involved than Bed Jumping, Syrup drinking, and Idle comments.

He doesn't need more of a reason. Better if it is kept simple. It works as is and has room to grow over time.

I think he had a certain air of unconfidence from the moment that we met him. His weapon was nowhere near the level that Ruby's was at, and he almost seemed embarrassed to pull it out in front of her. He put up a false air of confidence to try to impress Weiss and Pyrrha. I always had the sense that he was a character who felt like he was lacking something, and he was clearly out of place compared to the other students. Of course, we learn why this is later on. I think your idea would've served the same purpose that the Cardin arc served, but I do feel like this was an issue that needed to be addressed as soon as possible. I just don't think it would be a good issue to tackle outside of season one.

Of course it serves the same purpose. But in a way that doesn't feel like I accidentally started watching a really tame episode of Degrassi The Next Generation.

Like I said, it involves Jaunes Team on a more personal level, which is how it should be for Jaune. Realizing how important his place is with his WHOLE team, instead of just Pyrrha.

But as it stands, replace Nora and Ren with Lamps in those episodes and nothing of value is lost.

LOL

I'm sorry, that's the only input that I have for that post right now. That caught me off guard.

Can't argue with that.

On the protag character development scale, it goes Weiss>Blake+Jaune>Ruby(ikr?)>Pyrrha>Yang>Nora>Rin Ren

I love that one of the comments on Crunchyroll someone posted was that Yang got more screen time in V2E1 than in the entirety of V1. lol

Speaking of Crunchyroll, RWBY rose thru the ranks back to 7th place on CR's Top Animes list.

It'll be higher as Volume 2 rolls along.

6th actually. It's may get to 5th but I don't think it has the power to get past the heavy hitters in the top 4.

It has before. The one spot it never made it to was #1, but its highest place on CR was #2 if I recall correctly.

And this is what I'm seeing-

Perhaps so. SAO is one large hurdle to jump over though.

No worries. It was improbable that RWBY would rise as high as it did during Volume One, but it did. It can do it twice.

Ah I live in the UK so that's probably why mine is different. Anyways I can't wait to see how well RWBY does it would be nice to see it in the top 4.

Hopefully with less people in the comments wondering where the "original Japanese version" is. *shakes head*

They're main rival right now isn't even SAO.

Yeah but I think they've passed free when it's ongoing before. They've only managed to pass a finished SAO.
