Just saw episode 3.  A lot of things are happening, and I'm pretty excited to see what happens next.  I loved the alternate outfits too.  It really feels like RWBY exists in a bigger world now compared to Volume 1.

Because they're mentioning more areas than just Beacon and Vale. The card game of V2E2 was a great example of that.

I liked the newly added locations and the action-y chase sequences. It feels mostly like a Build-Up episode, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. I guess the secret had to come out eventually. Trying to remember back to that last episode for Season 1, who saw Penny for that? I'll check YouTube, just a sec.

Edit: I checked, Ruby saw the whole thing in episode 16. Why exactly is ruby confused by Penny and the truck?

Well i'm glad they got it out of the way as soon as possible since it was obvious.

Considering all these Semblances why is anyone surprised that Penny stopped the truck with her bare hands?

I figured everyone would be pretty desensitized to this stuff by now.

I dunno Yang can jump 30 feet in the air and punch a bird so I guess it's normal.

Just because something is a reality, doesn't mean people are accustomed to it.

Humanity is handling high yield explosives for centuries, but I can assure you if someone detonates some ordnance at a show, people will be thrown off by the display, if only because intellectual understanding does not equal experience in the slightest.

That and we have to consider how semblances are viewed in the world.

In the Harry Potterverse, we as readers are exposed to magic at pretty much all times;but if a wizard were to cast a spell in front of muggles, they'd flip out and that wizard would be in some deep *expletive* in the wizarding community.

Except even a common Joe Schmo in RWBY can have Aura and a Semblance. Jaune does.

In Harry Potter it's only a select few that are Magic.

That means Jaune isn't common, whether he knows it or not.

Yes but remember that they have to be activated first. The average person won't even know what the hell aura is.

Point me to the lore that states Aura is the X-Gene.

Please point me, otherwise I'll assume everyone has it.

It needing to be activated is another story.

But Beacon has quite a bit of students.

So does Hogwarts. Doesn't mean everyone in that universe has innate magical potential.

As far as we know everyone has it. How much someone has seems like it may be based on family lines (theory) hence why Jaune has so much.

In the RWBYverse, everything with a soul has an aura, but as far as semblances go, nah. That(a semblance) needs to be unlocked, so the average person has an aura, but is very likely untapped for anything like having a semblance.

We already have Faunus, we don't need more segregation between people.

We don't need this show to turn into X-Men or the first season of Korra.
