Could be.
Yeah, we don't know what the total number is, do we?
Also, they might not be active huntress/huntsman any longer, seeing how they are teachers.

Going off of the class that's shown on the cliff...
Yeah, maybe a 80% survival rate or higher, and the chance that the majority are deployed around the wilds...
Also, they might not be active huntress/huntsman any longer, seeing how they are teachers.
Well, Ozpin is still one, according to Monty. I assume the others are as well.

"Cardin...where's your team?"
Cardin-"An Ursa got THEM"
"Cardin...where's your team?"
Cardin-"A BIG Ursa got THEM"
ftfy
Poor everyone on his team but him
They don't deserve pity.
Cardin got the worse end of the deal.
His whole team is dead and he's the leader.

Poor lad will have to explain that one to Glynda Not-Gonna-Be-So-Goodwitch
It's better than leading a guy with a gunblade who refused to open his eyes.
I bet he died first!
I bet the last thing he did was open his eyes in surprise before that Nevermore feather hit them square between.
Well, Ozpin is still one, according to Monty. I assume the others are as well.
The question, forgive the semantics, is he an active huntsman, doing all that huntsman do on top of being the headmaster at Beacon, or is he only a huntsman in title and a headmaster de facto? If the former is the case, I can relate to why he'd need all the coffee, doing two jobs at the same time.
The very first episode would also imply Glynda is still active, though she might just as well have been in the neighbourhood and just intervened per chance.
I always assumed Glynda just intervened.
I have no idea why this is even a discussion.
The Huntsman/Huntress thing seems more like a title if anything.
They aren't all Batman constantly patrolling the cities for injustice.

I didn't mean to say huntresses/huntsmen patrol the cities to catch thiefs. Obviously someone primarily trained to combat the enemy to all living things would be patrolling the outskirts of cities, protecting smaller settlements and/or going out to expeditions to cleanse regions from Grimm manifestations to gain control of an area to expand and built new settlements on.
After all, having combat schools to teach teenagers to fight deadly creatures for nothing more than a title and then to leave them to their own devices is inefficient and couldn't possibly worth the expenses.

Actually that'd be downright stupid given they could turn out to be like Cinder and co. if not under supervision.
You come across a Samurai no longer in service in Feudal Japan, he/she is still a Samurai.
You come across a Knight no longer in service in Medieval England, he/she is still a Knight.
Huntsmens/Huntresses can't be the same?
Fidite I get you want to drum up conversation, but it really is a stupid topic you picked that only exists due to pointless semantics.
You come across a Samurai no longer in service in Feudal Japan, he/she is still a Samurai.
You come across a Knight no longer in service in any age, he/she is still a Knight.
Huntsmens/Huntresses can't be the same?
Actually a samurai that isn't serving would be a ronin, regarded little more than a common footsoldier until he finds a new patron lord. Just saying that was a suboptimal example.
Also, I never said they wouldn't be huntresses/huntsmen. I had specifically asked (and reiterated with emphasis on the semantics) if they were still active aside from/in addition to teaching/running the academy and my original question meant what the average life expectancy would be for one that is in active service, routinely hunting Grimm, etc..
Compare to say an overseas deployed soldier compared to one who's teaching new recruits at home.
Valid questions.

I don't actually care.
Valid questions.
The opposite. It's a pointlessly dull question that if Fidite REALLY wanted answered he should just ask Monty, Miles, or Kerry over Twitter.
Think of them as national security.
They are essentially cops in the kingdom, but they are soldiers outside the gates.
And cop is a Cop, even if all they do is training the newbies.
I could do better to explain this.
I think it's their main job to be teachers, but should a situation come where they are needed, they will join their fellow huntsmen on the field.
I wonder if they're ever actually just out there. Or do they respond to reports of whatever is going on and do something accordingly?
I don't actually care.

You evidently care enough to antagonize me over it.
And it likewise is evidently a valid question if it interests other people, like say LPPrince. Or do you wish to speak for others but yourself now?
I don't know what soured your moot so profusely. Did I strike a nerve when I was talking about the dakimakura? It was then when you started with this attitude. If I have unknowingly offended you, I apologize, but I would also ask you to clarify how I did.
