Eh well this is Yang we're talking about. I can imagine her doing that over just talking to her. Blake may have made a scene as well.

Yup the laser pointer scene was done well in context. Blake wasn't going to come along quietly unless she was drawn out of her tunnel-vision of search-til-she-drops.
The scenes between Blake and Yang gave the latter her chance in the spotlight, something everyone was clamoring about since last season and the only shiptease between them lasted all of two seconds and only if you chose to take it that way. Don't matter a big deal within the episode.
I don't care about the blatant and perhaps forced thing between Jaune and Pyrrha as long as they are not clobbering us in the head all day every day, those moments from episode 5 and 6 were four minutes at best. The rest I figure since he's the lead secondary character, it's a chance to show what kind of ideas they'll put him through. It hasn't been terribly interesting but none too cliched as the rest of the stuff they have been pulling out. (MCs involved in the world's fate because of their family and their ties to the past, oh please.)

The scene went on forever in my mind. Also it seems kinda racist in-universe...

Or if there are siblings, one Faunus, one not.
Coco and Velvet gave me the idea, but that obviously isn't the case.
Could people be straying from this thread because they know I didn't like what the latest episode did after Pyrrha's amazing fricken CRDL beat down and want to avoid my anger?
I swear, I'm not that scary.
Aww no one straying away because what you said. Heck I don't even type that much here. :-p. I am also a Pyrrha fan. :-(. So no worries I bet they have plans to finally have her be straightforward.
Yeah that would interesting having a human and Faunus siblings. :-)

It was a joke actually.
I am actually kinda scary, so I've been told.

maybe tukson was the half faunus. And roman is his brother. Would explain why roman tried to cover for him but it's kinda insignificant if so.

Tukson is Sabertooth from X-Men Origins. And that's why he wasn't in The Wolverine.
Cinder is hunting down all Multiversal refugees.

Why is everyone so critical of the last episode. I thought it was decent.

Jaune exhaustion.
Leaps in logic so great it should've won the Olympic Gold medal for the long jump.
Repetitious backstory for Ruby and Yang since it's pretty much the same despite different moms.
Jaune is the worst character in the show, and it astounds me how anyone in-universe likes that self-centered lowlife.

Because it's a little trite, there was no reason for them to take out time for Yang to give Blake a dance other than fanservice. Redundant hammering that Pyrrha likes Weiss Jaune, along with the cringy line "Practice what you preach Pyrrha." that didn't need to be there.
There was absolutely no reason for Ruby to be with Yang in her backstory other than because she's important.
The laser pointer scene was way to long and completely unnecessary, and a little racist in universe to be honest.
But, let me point out what carried me through this episode.
- Ren and Jaune's conversation
- Ruby in her "lady stilts"
- Ozpin
Seeing Jaune's dreams crushed
Give me what I listed above and it would be good. Cut Ruby from Yang's backstory and it would be good.
Little strange that both their mother's disappeared, but if the reasons are connected, that could be interesting.
Basically remove the trite angst and Highschool Drama that makes bad Nick TV shows and movies.

Eh. Just sounds to me you guys are just being overally critical. The school stuff and Jaune don't bug me since well, they are at a school.

Is no one capable of using Phonics?
And they're not at some intercity Canadian Highschool filled with repeated plotlines and Rap Star Drake in a Wheelchair.
It's a combat school for hunting monsters. This crap shouldn't be here. It clashes with the other plotlines in the show. It heavily clashes with the storyline we JUST FINISHED WITH 2 episodes ago.

Typo. /shrug
Would I like more action? Sure. Would I like it in every episode? Sure. Will I get it? No. I have grown used to the bland talking of the show, so stuff like this doesn't bug me.

Even X-Men Evolution wasn't as bad as RWBYs handling of this stuff.
...Actually scratch that. X-Men Evolution was awesome and did it better...
And it had Wolverine.

I don't know that one. The last x-men cartoon I watched was the 90s one.

Maybe, but I watched it with as little bias as I could (given my dislike for Arkos in general), and it was painful to take myself through it.
Colaman (the one with the girl legs in the snow) watched it without any bias towards the ships, and he came to me complaining too.
I complain like this because I know they can do better.

One day we will have an episode of RWBY that makes me say "Yes this is a worthwhile investment and something Rooster teeth should continue to do"
but that day has not yet come

I don't know that one. The last x-men cartoon I watched was the 90s one.
2003 one. Famous for the creation of X-23.
It had the Xavier school as more of a boarding house, the younger X-men (Everyone but Beast, Storm, and Wolverine) attended a normal highschool.
For what it was it worked. Got really good towards the end of 2nd season and road that high note for the final 2 seasons.
All 4 seasons are available legally for free on Marvels Youtube account for streaming if you want to check it out.
RWBY could go the same direction. Like I said, next weeks will determine it for me.

Which I understand, but where I come from there is a phrase. "Everyone is a critic." Basically meaning everyone think they can do better, but when they try. They realize how hard it is which is why I try not to criticize stuff harshly and take it as is.

The first arc of Volume 2 is so worth it, it's what I signed up for when I started watching RWBY, students of a federal police force fighting to keep the peace that has held since the Faunus Wars.

I understand where you're coming from actually. But the writers can do better, they really can. They don't have to write what I am complaining about.

All I've seen is mopey teenagers occasionally doing something interesting until Blake gets moody and angsty again

I see. Generally, I am not a fan of the X-men. There are a few comic books I follow, but the X-men has such a large history even with the reboot of it. Hard to get into.

But when you look at something constructively/critically, maybe you see something you don't like, but you may see something that makes you appreciate the work more.
This is why I think Mask of the Phantasm is a better movie than The Dark Knight.
It's the risk you take. Which is why I try to watch everything at least twice.
...Except Iron Man 3, I can tell that will never be a good movie no matter how you look at it.
RWBY has alot wrong with it. ALOT. But there's glimmers, little faint glimmers of something truly special trying to scratch its way through. I want nothing more for it to finally break through the slog of tired school cliches and pointless tumblr fanservice and achieve its potential.

To me, that way of looking at it destroys the fun. It's better to take it in as a whole and enjoy it while putting that criticizing to more important stuff in the world instead a TV show(Web show, whatever) which at the end of the day has no value.
Yes, Iron Man 3 is atrocious.

I feel like the normal episode is gems in glitter(I despise with my entire being glitter, but it's accurate), a good episode is a diamond ring made of petrified wood, and this episode is bits of copper in a pile of ashy mud.
