Monty came up with the slashing mechanic that made its way into Afro Samurai, which later made its way into Metal Gear Rising.

 

Coincidence, inspiration, whatever the case, Monty was ahead of his time.

He came up with the whole thing. RWBY was his brainchild, and he helped with just about everything involved with it in some fashion, though his biggest involvement was in animating it. Specifically the fight scenes(which if you watch the show, you'll notice are animated a bit differently compared to the rest of the show).

Agreed he will live on in his work and the memories of his friends and family. RT are still going to make RWBY to honor his memory which he would be proud of.

He's not done. He hasn't even reached his final form.

Hey, guys. Sorry I'm late. I know I was still signed in, but I was actually gone for a couple hours and I didn't sign out when I left.

I know I had stopped posting here sometime before Volume 2 came out, but I still looked forward to it back then, along with the other new RWBY stuff. When I looked at how quickly RWBY grew in just two years, there was no doubt that Mr. Oum had given an exemplary effort to the franchise in those years compared to others.

As RWBY continues to acquire new fans, I hope that previous fans can educate them on just how much Mr. Oum had given to this franchise and his past works, so that we can keep the dream big, alive, and better.

Rest in peace, Monty.
