I'm fine with speaking English how they did 300 years ago.

And randomly throwing in fictional words like o-ra which means "quickly"(as in action) in REON-4213. (I thought is was I nice sort of ryhmey chant.)

That said, I do wonder how the different dialects and accents in RWBY are, they are usually based on sociohistorical events (like the creation of the myriad of English accents) or a geographical barrier.

I wouldn't be surprised if they don't tackle it, but language is always interesting to me, as it's once of the few things that still confuses me every now and again when ever I try to use it with my face flaps.

Suddenly I want Gavin's character in RWBY(assuming he ever gets placed in like he was planned to) to have a heavy Geordie accent

ITS JUST SOUNDS, NOT EVEN WORDS, JUST SOUNDS

Yes.

We need this.

This is what people in Vacuo sound like. Headcanon accepted.

I'm willing to jump onboard this headcanon.

Not. Even. Close.

That ain't a Geordie. Listen to the vid if you haven't yet. I'll get more examples of Geordie'isms.

Here it is STUPID thick, like this is years ago Geordie

And here, you realize that anyone can be defeated by a Geordie accent

Poor Earthbound is *expletive*'d, Geordie is the Welsh of English accents hahaha

Can the RWBY fandom handle it? I WANT TO FIND OUT

Arguably better than Yorkshire, the last accent I had to deal with. Clone had that one on lock.

Geordie Gav would be canny.

Gav would probably outright refuse to even attempt sounding like a Geordie, lololol

So I let myself geek out this weekend by watching a lot of RWBY and reading a lot more of the fandom. And I got to say- it's weird that Jaune is my favorite character in abstract, but my least favorite character to watch. I'm just, well, bad at watching/listening to pathetic awkward tries-and-fails-to-be-macho, especially the horrible flirting efforts. But I dig the dynamic of the faker who's trying to make it. I like the character development angle. And I love the interplay of friendship between him and Ruby.

It's fun to read about and on... but I struggle to watch it. I much preferred Season 2 to Season 1, for the character development rather than awful comic relief.

Then hope Volume 3 follows the trend, hahaha

Try looking through fanfiction. The amount of author avatar/OC chockfull with Mary Sue or otherwise OP characters is too damn high.

Hah, I've never given RWBY fan fiction a shot. I'd rather RWBY itself be more substantial and have more years under its belt beforehand.

Haha. When I first mused about what sort of character I'd create in RWBY, I ended up coming to a character design and fighting style of Slade from the Teen Titans cartoon. It was hilarious how, despite trying to come up with an OC, the fighting style was totally ripped off.

Funnily, I came up with an inverse semblence of Yang's even before they defined hers- instead of getting more more offensive power with more damage, it was radically increasing the armor and damage resistance instead. Uber-endurance tank, rather than heavy DPS.

Also on the topic of FFN, surprising fact-

Of the 6.7k RWBY fanfics at FFN, nearly 15% of them have Jaune tagged as one of their primary characters. I really didn't expect even that many.

Well, there's been the teams RWBY and JNPR as the characters that got the most screentime. Eight people, so 12.5% for a perfectly even spread. 15% isn't too far off the mark.

I wonder how many of those fanfics have OCs ...

Well, if perfectly even spreads happen. Ren's got, like, 2%... and a good deal of that in the last three weeks. Also compare it to the fanart community, in which Jaune is almost entirely absent.

Not all that many, actually. Most Jaune fanfics are either 'Jaune's not as lame' or shipping fics. Fewer self-insertions, though more self-projections onto Jaune to make him OOC.

(Which, to a degree, is fine, since Jaune is hard to like as a person when he's utterly contemptable comic relief.)

Thats not hard to believe. Very little was known about Ren to work with, and what little that was known wasn't something that connected with the fandom quite like things with other characters did, like Nora's quirks.

Oh, I totally believe it. It's not hard to believe at all- which is why I'm surprised that Juane is as popular as he is in the fanfiction field. I expected the same level of popularity, to be honest.
