So I got caught up by watching on Netflix. Which actually makes it hard to tell it's even a series. Fortunately, I was already familiar with roosterteeth, but if i hadn't been, I probably would've just thought I'd stumbled across some cool, new art style anime movies.
I can see how some cosplayers might not be fully informed. Especially if they're into it for the costume or are just filling out a group. Typically if you're gonna go around saying you're a fan of something, you might want to learn more (and if it's something I really like, I'll want to do that on my own), but there's also something to be said for a more casual approach. It makes things more accessible. No one likes to feel like there's a barrier to getting into something they're interested in, or that they aren't cool enough to be a part of the fandom or be told they aren't a real fan.
