You know just because he's not OP as the rest of the characters doesn't make him bad, in fact it makes him better. He has the best cloths/armor, the best weapon (Because its simple), he seems Loyal, Honest, Generous, Kind, he provides laughter in the RWBY series, Magic seems like it will a big thing with him and his aura, and while the other characters seem like flat characters, I can see him being a round character who will grow and learn and change throughout this series. From humble beginnings, the mark of a true hero.
I don't know, to me its more exciting when the odds are against you.
Plus as Pyrrha said, he has a lot of Aura, probably more then anyone else out of the 8 characters. I have a feeling this is going to be important later on.
ALso Jaune Arc is defiantly better then that blonde chick no one cares about, :b
Now for some Jaune love from the awesome RWBY fans, :3
Jaune could very well be like the Doctor of the RWBY series, lol

Nah, but 18 images in one post is a lot. Nightly D'awws were made shorter, besides on top of another 24 posts on a single page that may contain other images/GIFs and such, too many images on one page/in a single post can cause thread slowdown and can black out someone's screen. Example(from this very thread)-
