Well... then her rapier IS the only one with "dust" in its extended name (something something dust rapier), and dust is her family's invention, so maybe?

Dust can't be a Schnee family invention, its a naturally occurring resource. It comes from quarries apparently, and the Schnee Dust Company is one of its biggest producers.

Eh, science is just our way of explaining the magic of everything around us(a point I'll heavily push in AoE).
But yeah, dust will have a heavy focus in the show. I mean, Blake and Adam were stealing dust in the Black trailer from the Schnee Dust Company.
