I don't know why, but I'm not as excited for this episode as I was for other ones. There isn't much buildup for anything other than the Jaune fight, and that doesn't seem very interesting.

That was my point on tumblr, there is no build up to ANYTHING.
I was explaining this to a friend on XBL and the idiot actually tried to justify how not building up to a conflict or plot is a good thing and even he realized he sounded like a complete mong.

They still do have that mobster invasion plot in the background. I don't really see them using that for this episode though.
So the best we can hope for is Phyrra and Jaune stuff. The "nerd gets beat up for the girl and gets the girl for it" cliche.

The main problem with the show is that it has set up loads of plot lines yet has barely done anything with them.
There the faunus, Roman Torchwick's mob, the mysterious girl without a face, Ruby's dead mother, the Schnee dust company, the creatures of grim, aura, Blake's past, Jaunes uncle, Ruby's dead mother loads of other stuff as well and we know almost nothing about any of them. I am guessing that it will pick up later but i really hope it hurries.

I think the writing crew overstepped their limitations. With the amount of time they're given, they need to dial it back.
Red vs Blue handled a mature backstory quite well for limited time, but even then its LIMITED.
