YangLuv alone can more than enough keep my heart non iced.
And I can always use Lady Arryn as a Fusion Reactor if that's not enough...
All of the Yes.

It was a good move to head feet-first into exposition as supplement for the very lengthy scene taking up most of the episode. Betty is apparently a metalbender, too. Leave it to ruby for finding a cute way to be pummeled to the ground. The secret bit at the end isn't too surprising - Mr. Cane or whatever his bloody name is doesn't strike me as a Class-A Villain. A lieutenant, pawn, or piece of the game at best. I like his hat, though. The ending shot should be a wallpaper, by the way.

With Black & White, you're getting the best of both. A fitting conclusion for the volume.

That's more than fair. I think you're getting a balance of both instead of one long visual slam-fest. With players and pieces, there wasn't really a sense of context - you're trapped in the forest with a bunch of monsters, go watch them beat the crap out of em. And they did it extraordinarily well in that episode.

True in EP8 i still have no idea how Ruby and Weiss ended up on the bird.

My guess is the 2D parts are for the past like the narration at the beginning, while the 3D is in the present.
I'm happy if it's that or a great exposition tool.

It most likely won't, but I really want to see some good short "combat demos" with JNPR
And the title cards.
What about little 2D animations? They could explain things that they need to clarify, but don't have a good way to within the show, and is too large of information for tweeting.
