I just finished the volume and can definitely say I really enjoyed it. I can definitely see where people find issue with the pacing and plot, or lack there of for a lot of it but as it's been said, this is just the first part of the first season.

Penny is amazing! I'm very much looking forward to finding more about her in the next volume. Hopefully but after her time to shine moment in 16, I'd figure they'll at least give us more hints about her. I really like the fact that you can see the little subtle things like the wires that attach to Penny's swords and what that allows her to do with them. The music that went along with that point too was fantastic, though as a whole I can say that and they choose the placement of the songs very well imho. Wonderful voice acting all around. Sometimes I watch animated shows and feel like a certain voice just doesn't fit a character. That wasn't the case here and the girls really did a fantastic job making the characters feel like real people.

The tournament should be an interesting thing. That's definitely going to get Pyrrha at least a time to really demonstrate her skills. I'm figuring White Fang is going to play a bit more of a part coming up since they had Velvet, Sun and of course Blake, then gave us the exposition about the group in 16.

I'll have to check the soundtrack out at some point, especially for the lyrical tracks.
