Rule 63 is now the least of your problems.

I have no idea what you are saying.
Click for reference points.
I can also only recommend that manga if you like slapstick comedy, ruthless martial arts parodies and a bit of romance thrown into the mix. Hilarious manga in its own right.
That fanfic ... it will be glorious. Presuming I don't overstimate my writing skills. Will have to do some research, character sheets and story arc planning, but once that stuff is down, I should be able to craft something special.
And Liam, you are obligated to read it!

Ohohoho, just went down the list of Ranma arcs in my head. The possibilities to tie those in with RWBY are LIMITLESS!
Yang is soooooooo getting the hair-growing rice treatment! and Pyrrha gets the super soba whiskers!
MUAHAHAHAHA
I already love it!

I WILL NOT!!! I still feel bad about intertwining colors and not knowing what lemon meant.
I promise I will not make it a kinkmeme or smutty. That makes for boring, predictable writing.
Maybe a bit ecchi when I go down to explore the relationships some more, but nothing to warrant a lemon warning.
I would want the fic being read and appreciated for the comedy value, not burned on a stake.

Question to everyone out here:
Would you rather prefer I maintain original character integrity as much as possible, or would you tolerate several characters getting rather hefty out of character treatment?
The former obviously maintains a closer semblance to RWBY characters, but would make it very hard for me to properly catch the whackyness of the Ranma 1/2 cast unless I introduce those characters as their own, which obviously would be very, very hard to integrate into the setting in a way that doesn't completely break the bounds (and more likely my ability to write).
The latter would mean the RWBY cast would recieve rather significant character changes here and there and most importantly would inevitably change some character dynamics (though trying to gradually depict those dynamics would prove an interesting challenge), but would mean I wouldn't have to saturate the setting with the Ranma 1/2 cast, making it easier to follow, easier to identify with RWBY and would ensure that I can focus on the RWBYverse rather than having to incorportate the entirety of Nerima and consorts into the setting.
Which would you rather tolerate to read?
As a fellow Ranma fan, what do you think Darth?

I think gradual change is best but i have no idea what you are changing them into.
Follow the link I posted and head to the characters sheet page.
I'd go and try to incorporate as much character traits from a Ranma character in the chosen RWBY pendant (Ranma = Ruby, Akane = Weiss, Ryouga = Jaune, Panythose Taro = Cardin, Hinako Nimomiya = Glynda are already decided pairings) as I can without turning them into completely different people, but it would definately result in notable differences.
The alternative would be that I more or less take those Ranma character straight into the RWBY setting, which imho would be much harder to actually incorporate them in a way that would seem natural, nevermind flooding the setting with loads and loads of characters (and completely ruining the point of making Ruby genderbend ...).

With that out of the way I'd say go with what would allow you to have the most fun and be flexible. If the latter option does that, go with it! It's a pet project and one you're clearly excited about, so might as well roll with what will bring you the most enjoyment.

Which is odd as my story notes for VLAD volume 2 so far are really dark subject matter. Child soldiers, genocide, human experimentation. And how I plan for the Cleric assassin Meredeth to be killed off is brutal especially considering she's 14.
And no, Volume 1 will not be as bad, it's a more romanticized story Victor is telling Ruby and is far more light-hearted.
Volume 2 is an honest story that Victor tells to Blake after they have an argument about The White Fang.
