So does the show have seasons or is it just new weekly episodes onward into the indefinite future.

It has seasons, made up of episodes that are released weekly.
The first season(the current one) will have 16 episodes. We're already three episodes in. 13 to go.
Safe assumption is that the next season will be next summer.
