Oh by the way, slipped my mind to mention it yesterday-

When I was out shooting arrows for an hour yesterday, I used RWBY's music to accompany me while I did it. Confirmation- Totally works.

Nope. Just made archery even more fun than it already is. As a matter of fact you want to focus as much as possible while shooting, so having music play in your ears creates something that you must tune out. So in a way, it does help.

Hah, no you don't need to focus at all. What you need to do is build up muscle memory. Your body has to know how to elevate at what range, how to compensate for that wind (and if your shooting at moving targets, how to lead).

Body movement doesn't translate well into conscious deliberation, not at all. In fact, the human body is abyssmally bad at doing maths, but ridiculously good at repeating internalized memory. Rather than training to focus on the act of shooting, you have to train your body to remember the act of shooting.


Did some archery myself for some time and had great mentoring. You know, the kind of blindfold training: know the target distance, align your stance so you have the correct horizontal firing arc and just do it. It still amazes me how easier the hits came if you were not actively trying to micro-manage the whole process (and how expensive arrows are once you fired them someplace never to be foiund again I should add).

Aye. The aim is to make it come naturally. For example, when I have a grip on my bow, I hold it with my thumb, index, and middle fingers actually gripping the handle while my ring and pinkie are bent and leaning on it, for stabilization. Comes in handy, and I do it without even thinking.

What I meant by tuning out the music- I mean its pleasant to listen to while I walk to my target and pull out my arrows and walk back to the spot I shoot from, and its pleasant to listen to as I'm naturally pulling my bow up and using all the correct muscles in the correct way, but when I'm pulling back and aiming, I use music as something I have to ignore so I can aim and fire. Works like a charm.

Since I just did it again the last hour. RWBY music again(along with Look by Mina, hahaha).
