The age of the characters will change, so why not themselves?
Although, how much their outfits and weapons change is up to debate, especially the weapons
It all really depends on how RWBYverse views souls, as a static thing that will define you over your life, or a dynamic thing that changes over your life.

Yeah. Oddly enough I see Ruby having the most potential for development on her team, and I think Yang has the least potential, mainly because Yang is already the most mature person on the team already, and Ruby needs the development the most since she is the team leader. We are already seeing Blake starting to develop and sort of let people in, and we are seeing Weiss becoming accountable for her actions.
Of course, this has little to do with their look changing, but it's just a thought that popped in my head. What do you think in terms of this?

Nah, it just means that she is already the most mature character of the bunch. That doesn't mean that we shouldn't learn about her back story or demons; I just feel like she is in the least need of development, maturity wise.
Basically, we need to learn more about Yang, but she is already the big sister of the group.

Frankly, the gifs are pretty bad. The motion quality is so abysmal, I can feel a headache creeping up if I look at it for some time.

Your right, even though she's had a lack of lines, Yang has so far been portrayed as someone in the moral high ground
I see most of her character fleshed out in character interaction, less character development.
