Well, there hasn't been an active thread on Zaeed on this forum that I have seen, so I'll start one!

For those who are unfamiliar, Zaeed was leaked by our good friends in Norway, he is apperently a character obtained from DLC, presumably day one, and hopefully free with new copies, though I have no clue on whether he is free, or if he is day one DLC.

masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Zaeed_Messani

So, what is known:
  • He is a Bounty Hunter
  • He is beating Shephard in the race to age's finish line
  • Cerberus hired him to help out the Commander
Now, he may look rough and renegady, but I'm banking on Zaeed actually being a very proffessional, very follow the rules of what ever contract he has to the letter, and being fairly charming.

Anywho, I invite anyone curious to come and speculate with me on our good friend Mr. Messani.

You might want to slap a spoiler warning somewhere. I don't mind, but there's most likely more than a few wandering eyes who probably want a heads up first.

Explains what the cerberus network card is for.

Interesting that they're taking a different marketing approach than DA:O did for this stuff. (Not revealing it ahead of time)

he definitely doesn't follow the rules. you don't follow the rules in bounty hunting and live to be that old.

i am willing to bet he is the 10th squadmate and not the 11th.

He kind of looks like Dustin Hoffman in that picture, doesn't he?

I'm not sure if Zaeed is the mythical 10th squad member, or an added 11th to round out the "Dirty Dozen" comparison (granted that I doubt they meant the number literally) though I most certainly doubt that it is a certain "L" that everyone seems to think it is.

However, even if he is not free DLC, I will certainly buy him, he strikes me as cool from the incredibly little we know about him, and he will surely be in my squad member rotation list for when not doing personal sidequests. Garrus, Tali, Thane, Zaeed.

To channel Chris, who I feel very sorry for at the moment, with the wave of trolls on the old forums closing tomorrow:

"We will reveal more on DLC in the comming week,

Stay Tuned."

He also speaks with a british accent, apparently. His skills resemble a soldier's, he's handy with a sniper, and he has a "grenade-launching attack" (concussive shot?). I saw the article before it was deleted, and it revealed these things. The wiki guys won't put unsourced stuff on there, and since the article is deleted, no dice.

Roman space dude!

Still, I'd rather have this guy as a DLC bounty hunter companion:

IMO he'll be voiced by Simon Templeman and that Hans Gerrel guy as either a cover or they changed the name

It seems kinda wierd that they announce him so late, but it looks like he was in from the beginning. Here's an old concept art:

I'm really looking forward to this character. I've been hopeful for a more grizzled, older squadmate, and hey look! there one is :) Can't wait to learn more about him.

Personally I think whoever they said Templeman is voicing, he is voicing, then again, nothing bans him from voicing more than one character.

Although I would love a Templeman voiced companion, Zaeed strikes me of having a bit of a deeper voice than his, like an Alan Rickman voice

Great find on the concept art!

I played Dragon Age without Shale because I played on my non-internet 360 downstairs.. I might have to do the same again.. I hate this horrible DLC situation.

Which supports the theory that Tali will be willing to walk away, when Shepard decides it's time for the geth to be deployed against the collectors.

Back on topic, Mr. Messani instantly scored #2 position in my squad (right behind Jacob).

While it is sad that people will have to go through extra length to get thier Xboxs temporarly internet attached to get the DLC, I think it's a good move towards encouraging new game sales, and not simply buying it used or pirating.

Bioware is a business, and anyway the can get money without hurting anyone (like that rather dreadful drm for me1) I'm happy. Yes it's sad people won't get cool extras, but for those who absolutly can't get internet, they still have the core game, and something extra if they ever can get the internet.

It's prolly just the quality of the image, or a trick of the lighting, but it looks like his mouth has been cauterized shut.

And for no particular reason, I'm imagining him being akin to Boba Fett as portrayed in the "Legacy of the Force" series; old, quiet and detached, but professional and incredibly deadly.
