Played it twice. Last time was on insanity with EC abut a year ago. Played ME1 once since then, but couldn't be bothered to play again.

Back in March to July of 2012 I had 5 & 1/2 play through's done. 2 of my character's ( Denis & Dennis lol) were New Game + who romanced Liara & Miranda respectively so that's 4. My renegade Joseph romanced Tali @ I never finished my Femshep Alice past the geth Cruiser.

Just got sick of the game. The gathering of war assets is like pulling teeth. I find the combat gammy/ too easy, I didn't like the story and I hate what they did with the characters (like Miranda.. WTF Bioware) find the squad lame + their interactions to not be that interesting overall. So yeah I don't play it anymore :P

Although I Tried playing about 4 days ago. Sur'kesh (my favorite mission) but never got into it.

The N7 edition & N7 strategy guide is still on my shelf though, really nice looking :)

I will - I recently got ME1 and ME2 on PC this time (Steam sale) so I'll pick up ME3 on Origin at some point and give the gameplay a try that way.

This is actually fascinating to see I’m not the only one like that.

I have replayed ME1 & ME2 several times with a great joy… and didn’t replay ME3 even once. This is not out of protest, but I just can’t force myself into that nonsense/agony/disappointment/pain (you choose whichever). It has been over a year and still somewhere deeply inside I have a dream of a happy place where Bioware changes the ending.  Very realistic about it not happening ever, but still hoping… *sight*.

It will take lots of effort from Bioware to sell on ME4 (or whatever it’s going to be called).

Well technically theres a mod that fixes the ending known as MEHEM a marginal improvement (have not viewed its more recent renditions though). Personally its hard to have any faith in  ME 4 being good.  I'm keeping my expections incredibly low since Bioware has accomplished nearly the impossible in making me want to forget about a fictional universe I once cared and was enthralled in.

Any good ideas on how to headcanon a feasible ending by having the series end with ME 2??

I have run through ME1 and ME2 twice this summer. 3 times if you count the trilogy playthru I did back in May with citadel DLC.

I may be done with ME3, it has its moments and I love the citadel DLC but that ending fubars everything. But I still love ME1 and ME2 Thank goodness.

I just got ME1 + ME2&3 DDE for PC after making the switch from console.

I regret nothing.

Even though i'm not one of the people that totally hate ME3, I have to admit how replayable ME1 and ME2 are. I'm not sure what it is, but I can keep going back to them. Maybe in ME1's case, it's just the amount of unlockables and achievements. I don't really think it has the best gameplay (in fact, I think ME3 has great combat). ME2 is just a fun atmosphere to revisit, and the team is just badass. I wish at least one of them was a squad member in me3 (one of the me2 specific characters, that is.. Not just Tali or Garrus).

When I do a playthrough of these two though, I don't intend to neglect ME3 either (so long as I make a new character).

ME1, inspite of a good story ranks last in ME games, for me. Feels like a game out of the 90s.

It does feel really dated, but it still has some of my favorite moments of the trilogy. I can't bear to do anymore completionist playthroughs though. I have one "perfect" one for my canon vanguard with every possible thing gathered and I'm never doing that again. Any subsequent plays now are just renegade shenanigans and breezing through it with a different Shepard. I can't resist replaying ME1 in some fashion though. The intro and the last few missions always pull me back in. Regardless of everything though, ME3 has the most replays for me, even above ME2. I couldn't quite put my finger on why that is, considering that ME2 definitely had more fun in its dialogue and missions.

I don't know about 90s.. It does have the older Bioware feel though, like Kotor or Jade Empire. People might not like the new Bioware, but they ramped up the production value of subsequent games (cinematically speaking). In a way, Dragon Age (Origins) is still kind of like this too. Probably a little better though.

You mean people can find other parts of the game to like, and want to play it again despite the negatives? No way!

I don't know what's hard to believe about that. ME3 is one of those games I was glued to my screen with the majority of the way, full of ups and downs (emotionally), and then only in the last 5 minutes getting this deflating, demoralizing, pointless feeling where all I could say was "Huh?" But I'm not going to hate on all the good stuff I saw just for that.

The levels, stories, and characters are the product of many people, so I can seperate it. Whoever did the ending though (Walters, I guess) is alone responsible. Some people think he intended to drag the whole franchise down, and sometimes I do.. but if I have any small say about it, I won't let it happen. The best I can do is just set it off to the side.

The ME2 squad by far had the least interaction out of all the games. Garrus gets what? Two conversations without a romance before he is done?

Quite ironic that the game that revolved around gathering a squad had them not even recognize each others' existence or any scenes where they learn to operate in the same unit together.

Yeah, if there's one thing ME3 did better than its predecessors, it's having a team that actually felt like it was a team (well, aside from the VS, who was antisocial as hell).

Kaidan wasn't antisocial. He talks with Liara over the com, playes poker with James, has a nerd talk with Tali (granted that is on a mission) and is down in engineering talking with Adams (I swear there was another one where he is talking with Garrus in the lounge to some crewman, but I might imagine that one, lol). If there is someone antisocial it's probably Liara, I don't remember her leaving her room at all, except talking to Javik and Shepard and they are all directly after the missions.

I also think he get's quite a bit of interaction with Shepard. The little scene at Mars, 2 scenes at the hospital, at the elevator after the coup, another one right directly after the coup on the Normandy, one after you rescue the cerberus scientists, the love scene and the scene in London. I'm not even adding the citadel dlc.

To be more on topic ... I replay ME3, it's my favorite personally. Would I have liked a perfect happy ending? Yes, of course, but with the war going on I didn't expect to get one. BioWare warned us about it, it was said the ME3 would be darker than the other 2. The deaths of Mordin and Legion tucked at my heart strings and I still get all teary eyed when I do the mission with Grunt, even though I know he survives (in my game he does at least)

The ending itself didn't really bother me too much, it was the whole Normandy crash landing on the planet, but that has been fixed by the EC, so I'm happy with my high EMS destroy ending. I have played ME3 at least 8 times and I still love the game to bits. <3

I just finished a full series playthrough about 2 weeks ago and I can't wait to start it up again, a bad (but passable with the EC) ending doesn't spoil 2 1/2 games of awesomeness. The only part of the series I completely cringe at playing is the first part of the Mass Effect 3, from Earth to Palaven and also the Cerberus bomb plot because the writing was terrible. So terrible I feel as though I could have written a better script.

Since it's summer and I don't get out much I'm probably gonna play through this again as soon as I'm done my Halo marathon and my Jak & Daxter marathon.

I started a new trilogy playthrough yesterday. Going to do insanity on ME1 for the first time. Never got to do it before, because my initial 2 playthroughs were on my old computer, and next to losing all my achievements... I also kinda forgot to keep my saves >.> My initial playthroughs of ME2 and ME3 were with saves I got from the internet.

Anyway, having unlocked insanity, I'm going to go with an assault rifle wielding adept, with Kaidan and Wrex as companions. Very low on tech, so that might be a bad choice. But lots of crowd control :P

I already dread playing through ME2 again. It's a drag. And leveling up is pretty meaningless... it's almost a shooter.

As much as I despise the endings, I nonetheless thoroughly enjoyed 95% of the narrative and the gameplay was pretty solid. That's what keeps me coming back. Still hate the mediocre deus ex machina endings though.

I liked ME3, its gameplay is extremely solid even if the ending was not really my taste. But i wont let the last 15-20 minutes ruin a game series with over 120 hours of gameplay for me, i had a blast all the way from Eden Prime up until seeing the priority:earth missions.

ME1 is the worst of the bunch as far as the gameplay goes for me but i don't mind the slightly dated feel on biotic classes as it have more depth to it than the soldier, which is a class i wont touch more then once.

ME2 is the best ones of the series, got the gunplay of ME3 but feels more like an actual RPG then ME3 did.

I played through once. March 2012.

I can´t get through the story again while keeping a straight face and I don´t consider the gameplay elements to be able to carry the experience alone. I don´t think I will touch any title of the trilogy ever again.

Heres how the story is told around net:

One of the devs posted on Penny Arcade forum and said that Casey Hudson and Mac Walters didnt go for peer review, they basically shut themselves in an office and came up with the ending there, then told others to do it, go hell or highwater. He later denied this and the post was deleted, but I think it was done more to protect him and the firm.

I think the ending and its refusal to change can be attributed mostly to the ego of these two men, thats how many view it at least. I wasnt there so cant say for sure, but wouldnt be surprised if this was the ultimate reason.

I'm doing it now. I've cured the genophage because of Wrex. I've wiped out the Geth. I'm choosing Synthesis this time just because I've come to the conclusion that organic life is a disaster.

Synthesis needs a new banner. Synthesis: The Cynical Choice.

That sounds like a better name. I mean, why deal with organics and synthetics when you can just have Orgthetics, or Synganics?
