I really enjoyed Shep for the first 2 games, it was so refreshing getting to carry forward developing a character i'd spent so much time roleplaying. The problem came for me in ME3 where they really cut the player characterisation features to the bone in preference of a default characterisation which meant that unless your Shep matched with default Shep you were left with a severe disconnect and masses of headcanoning needed.
I enjoyed roleplaying Hawke, though for some reason i feel he/she could really have done with an expansion in order to fully round off the chracter.
As much as i enjoy the Warden and Origins, the muteness creates a disconnect which i am constantly fighting against the current in terms of immersing myself in the character & the story.

It's actually not that difficult to make a good looking Hawke with the vanilla game.

I do not hate Hawke like other people, maybe because the female voice acting for sarcastic was very very very good in french but the character should have been given more options (like proclaiming herself viscount and have both Meredith and Orsino under arrest instead to have to chose a side)
The warden is too much customizable to be rated as a character.
Shepard was broken down in ME3, up until that point he was a very good character (specialy male paragon french shepard
)
I quite like the Spirit Monk of J.E, one of my favorite protagonist actually (Closed Fist Silk Fox female romance > all)
Revan was a good character if you played him as a humorous one:
Bastila: "On which planet were you born?"
Revan: "Kashyyyk. I'm a Wookiee. Can't you tell?"
Bastila: "Don't worry, these are simple questions. Nothing too intrusive. First, what kind of background do you have?"
Revan: "I'm a Hutt in human form plotting to overthrow the Republic."
Revan: "Handon is lying!"
Bolook: "Why do you believe that?"
Revan: "Fat people always lie."
Bastila: "How old are you?"
Revan: "3012. Healthy living, you know."
