i've just finished the Ostagar quest. And till now, I am still very lost, especially dealing with the "skills/abilities...etc." and "combat control". Really have no idea how I got through the combat at all. And with the millions of icons to get familiar, I wonder how long will it take for me to really start to enjoy the game as many have.

Any suggestion for a really good tutorial or guide available on the web which could help newbies and not so smart player like me? I really don't want to give up just because of the frustration learning it.

many thanks.

DAO does have a bit of a learning curve.

There are general guides here. I'd also suggest you familiarize yourself with the various tactics settings, an introduction is available here. A summary of combat mechanics in DAO is available here.

It rank in priority, so 1 override 2 etc,
priority 1 is to heal when near death, so

1] self-health <25% use health pouch
2] self-mana <10% use mana pouch
3] self any activate sustainable 1
4] self any activate sustainable 2
5] enemy class mage kill it first
6] enemy rank elite or higher kill it too
7] enemy nearest visible kill em all

< means less than, and > means more than, so health <25% means health is less than 25%
so that is the basic premise, i'm not good at this tho, so i build myself an arcane warrior
and my companions can die as they see fit, i'll do it myself.
