Urm, things I think of instantly after looking through the titles assembled so far (don't know how old and/or ugly the titles are allowed to be ^^):

Strategy:

Master of Orion 1+2
Syndicate/Syndicate Wars
Total Annihilation
Supreme Commander
Incubation
Battle Isle
XCOM: Enemy Unknown

Simulation:

Wing Commander I - IV
Freelancer 1+2
Privateer 1+2

Shooter:

Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena

Adventure:

Gemini Rue
Blade Runner (sadly not yet availabe on GOG T_T )
Beneath a Steel Sky
Deponia 1+2 (kind of?!)

Games I cannot comletely put into one of the categories - please help me out, folks:

FTL (RPG/Strategy?)

Another World (Puzzle-Platformer/Adventure?)

Crusader: No Remorse & Crusader: No Regret (isometric action thingies?)

Outcast

Thank you all I sorted out games you guys did not categorize...please try to categorize them if you can. If you can't just name the game and ask and I will put it where I think it fits the best.

Once again thank you everyone for your contributions and keep them coming.

Hoping to grow this thread even larger, if it is successful I might even start a group where we can discuss sci-fi games, books, comics, movies and other media also. Thank you for the support and help.

Earth 2160. Strategy. Another alien sci-fi (by that I mean with an actual singe-player plot that revolves around finding aliens), but with four factions instead of three!

Maelstrom. Another of the same (Strategy).

Added! Thank you for continuing to contribute!

Note: Guys do not be afraid to suggest things I can add to spice up the list and make it more appealingvisually to those who may use it for a reference.

Battlefield 2142 is a decent member of the series.

Also add Halo 3 to the list or change it to "Halo series". It should get mention despite not living up to the awe in Halo 1.

I wonder if the Wolfenstein series fits into the SF shooter category. It plays in the past in an alternative universe using technology not available in our time.

Edit: Wikipedia classifies it as SF.

It actually is because there is paranormal AND science experimenting in it. Not all Sci-Fi games are space based :)

Mechwarrior 4 is not a shooter. I would categorize it as a simulation, much like a flight sim. In this case it is a bot sim. ;)

Edit: Although you shoot things, you pilot the bot, much like you pilot a plane in a flight sim.

We kept it a secret all those years. :P

Yes. It's supposed to be loosely based on Gibson's book. In 1988 it was considered to be a great game.

Neuromancer on Wikipedia.

I haven't played them, but would the "Red Faction" games be considered sci-fi? (And are they any good?)
