Although I have to agree with OP on the human only PC thing. Again, that just reinforces the point that each fan has their own wants; none of it speaks for ALL fans.

I think bringing the warden back would result in the fecal storm to end all fecal storms if they didn't do the warden justice in the eyes of everyone. Which is nigh impossible.

I would prefer if they didn't bother. I'd like to move on. But if it's in the cards, I wouldn't mind a cameo or something, even if she is removed from my control, although I know a lot of people object to that. However, I think the suggestions that the Warden be fully armored, wearing a hood or helmet are just stupid. We have a new engine with new capabilities and shiny new graphics. I for one, would like to see what my Warden would look like in them.

To think that they would somehow "port over" our Warden's face from the saved file and create some weird monster is just absurd, particularly given the differences in elf appearance, and also that DAI and beyond will be for next-gen consoles. I think it is probably likely that if we are to ever see our Warden again, or Hawke for that matter, that they will either let us into the CC to completely customize the face, or allow us to at least pick from presets.

That is just my guess of course.

The OP is also forgetting that some people had their wardens sacrifice themselves to kill the archdemon. However much some people might like to play their warden again, the ****storm that would result would be epic.

I changed my mind on wanting a cameo after what happened with the E3 trailer around here.  The most I would want now is maybe a slideshow at the start to recap what my characters have done and even that I am not sure about.

1st I like how you guys are always saying you listen to your fans, and then do completely the opposite of what your fans keep telling you we want.

Why is it everyone keeps telling you that we want our wardens back, but you won't let us have them?  Or how about how you have a lot of Dragon Age fans that don't want to play as a human but that option is being taken away.  Keep on alienating your consumers and you aren't going to have a company much longer.

Thats my rant.

Presumptive and entitled, I see.

I had no problem when DA2 announced a new hero, and now moving on to installment #3 I think a regression back to the Warden would only be jarring.  The last few seconds of trailer footage showing the Inquisitor stumbling out of a sandstorm?  Had me salivating; I cannot wait to get my hands on a new PC.
Secondly, I have no problem with a human-only origin, as it's the race I picked as my first/canon playthrough in DAO.  But then I also don't go around stating my opinions as facts...so I guess we have nothing in common at all.

I followed the forums only through the last bioware series, Mass effect and Dragon Age, but I got the impression that they do listen to fans. I don't expect them to listen to everything we say, for various, obvious reasons and I'm quite content with what I've seen so far in this matter.

Since the Warden has six possible background stories, multiple permutations of decisions and endings, it becomes incredibly expensive and troublesome to account for them all in future games of the franchise. Limiting the race of the protagonist to only one provides more 'control' on this. I'm sure Bioware wants to give more to what a lot of us wants, but they'll need to do it in a way that do not shoot themselves in the foot. Hopefully, the DA team learns from this.

My Warden's story is over and ended when the Blight did. New protagonist for DA:I is ideal, especially one that will seem to be much more relevant to the current important events of the age.

Which fans? Near as I've ever been able to tell, our fans aren't of a single mind regarding anything... and that's even among the small subset that choose to come to our forums.

Why is it everyone keeps telling you that we want our wardens back, but you won't let us have them?

"Everyone" is not telling us this.

Or how about how you have a lot of Dragon Age fans that don't want to play as a human but that option is being taken away.  Keep on alienating your consumers and you aren't going to have a company much longer.

Just to be clear: us listening to what some fans express a desire for isn't going to translate into us always agreeing or even being able to implement those desires. We will, in the end, need to pick a path that accomodates our resources and our own intentions... and we'll take into account what fans express a desire for, even if we can't possibly accommodate everyone.

If someone feels alienated by our choices, then they shouldn't buy the game. That's what being a consumer is all about. If we don't have enough consumers once all that is said and done, we will indeed not have a game or a company for much longer. Thanks for the tip. :)

Mr. Gaider, you probably knew this, but even replying to this topic was probably a waste of your time. Posted Image

That said, at least the OP admits that she's ranting. *slow clap*

Nope, I don't want my Warden back or Hawke for that matter. I'm absolutely fine with having a new protagonist and I'm really looking forward to being introduced to the Inquisitor.

Human being the only race, meh ... Most of my playthroughs are human in DA:O, so I'm cool with that as well. I'm sure BioWare will bring race selection back in the future, I think they mentioned that they want to use it again down the road, but not in DA:I. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

About BioWare not listening to their fans, all I have to say is ME3: Citadel DLC ... I know it's a different team and game, but it's still the same company. That dlc was so full of fanservice it was ridiculous :P (And I love it!!) Even then people complained about it.

So whatever BioWare does lately, there is always backlash, it's sad actually.

 Deal with it?

We have been over this many times already, its set in stone for inquisition and they told you ahead of time. In all honestly if you object to this just don't buy the game. The world will still go round and BioWare will still be making games, that is not going to change any time soon.

I am, admittedly, mega-sad that there aren't race options. But if the DA teams says they're putting those resources to better use, I'm willing to give that a chance (a second time).

At the end of the day, DA may disappoint, but it will likely still remain my favorite series even while it fails to give me all that *I* want.

I think that's the point that DG keeps making -- "Fans, just admit that this is what *you* want -- it's enough for us to hear that *you* want it. Don't try to tell us that *everyone* wants it or that the game is *clichéd* unless it's done a certain way. We are so much smarter than that. This is our job, after all."*

*dramatic representation, and not an actual David Gaider quote

After all, it must be hard to listen to the fans when five of them will tell you that "everyone" agrees with their five different points of view.

hahaha. Gaider is so fuuny. Whoa. Mr. Gaider . Rotfl.
He's right as far as the fans not agreeing. I have my own philosophy, old school rpg which some fans would like while others would be content with something else.
The poster who started this thread is obviously an inexperienced newbie. They have the right to post so we have to be tolerant of their views I guess.
Bioware will make the game they want to make. May not be the best rpg they could make due to inexperience with the frostbite 3 engine and technical deficiencies among their personnel , as well as time constraints, i.e.it took 6 years to make DAO. I personally don't expect DAI to be a big success for the previously stated reasons among others, but sink or swim it will be Bioware's product that they chose to make.

*rolleyes* You know, it's really time to get over it. Just because you're obsessed with your Warden and can't move on doesn't mean that everyone else feels the same way. Sure, I liked my Warden, but I don't need her to be the focus of every Dragon Age forever and ever until the end of time. What I'm interested in is experiencing an intriguing story and seeing how the world of Thedas is impacted by our actions, regardless of who the protagonist is.

So that is how I, as a fan, feel about these things? For awhile thought I liked the voiced protagonist and was fine with never seeing my warden again (he has better things to do) but now I know better.
Thank you.

Are we here to play kissie face with Bioware employees ?
I think not.
We should be respectful, however.
If the tc wanted the warden back it's ok to say so. Not all players want the warden or hawke back, so the tc speaks only for himself.

I would not want to be a warden again

As for races and origins it's a trade off and I can only tell you if it was the right move after DA3.

The fact is the choice in reality is not something like this. "Human only vs being able to play other races."

It is more like this "Human only and extra game content a tighter story and better developed companions vs being able to play other races."

If you can play as any race then game resources whether they be story telling, artistic, whatever must be used to add those choices.
