This may sound silly but hear me out.

OK so she went bat crazy at the end and turned into a human like lyrium statute, but what if shes not truly dead? Instead of killing her she goes into a metamorphic cocoon type of stage? It would be watching the development of a catepillar turning into a beautiful butterfly.

At her final Metamorphosis she rises up and become a being that she use to desperately loathe... she become a powerful but unstable evil mad woman mage. Having full access to the fade she then does this :D

and all hell breaks lose.

No. The less of DA2 in this game the better.

Sigh.

Nothing is wrong with the character. But she's had her time, and is dead, and we just had this discussion.

She is dead as dead can be.

I would be against this. In my head at least, Meredith's story is over, it was a good run and I could largely sympathize with the character (even if she did go a little off the rails there at the end). If she were to return, I would only want it to be as a big red lyrium glowing mage staff for my inquisitor.

i wouldn't mind a few hudered years later her becoming some kind of living statue saying how remorsful she was about doing thing or being a statue of pure hate... but for DA:I too soon..

Let her stay dead. This wouldn't be an incidence of bad retconning but it would be really stretching it.

Resurrection is a lame plot device.

I'm pretty confident that there will be a Meredith-like character in the game. That is, a hardcore Templar leader who thinks that mages are the worst thing ever and that any method, however extreme, is justified in the name of protecting ordinary folks from them.

No thanks, I left Final Fantasy behind years ago and have no desire to return.

The OP's idea reminds me of all those old final fantasy games where you have to kill the boss like 5 times and each time he/she would consecutively take on an increasingly ridiculous form.

Woohoo - Star Trek references ftw! In all seriousness, for all intents and purposes, she's dead. I'm not saying it isn't possible in a world with magic that someone could break the curse (if that's what it is) or change her back, but I find it highly unlikely unless there's a darned good reason for it. I just don't really see where Meredith would fit into the ongoing events, so it doesn't make that much sense to me to bring her back.

Well, in my opinion, Meredith was somewhat a female version of Hitler, but far crazier and a lot more boring. So, sorry mate, but the answer is no.
