I have an issue using the Compaion Part Roster Dialog:

Posted Image

The issue is that I don't want to use it slightly differently than the OC does. In the OC you click on the door to exit the Sunken Flagon and that opens the dialog. You make your party changes and exit. If you want to transfer loot from one character that is in your party to another companion, you have to go back into the Sunken Flagon and click on the door again.

I decided I would use a book on a pedistal to initiate the dialog instead. And this works - with one problem.

When I dismiss someone from my party, they disappear. I can open the dialog and re-add them to my party and the reappear. This isn't quite what I was looking for...

What I want the companion to do is either walk to or appear at their hangout waypoint inside my Inn when they are dismissed from the party. But that doesn't happen.

Is this simply a setting or a special waypoint I need to create for this to work? Or do I need to do something slightly more complicated like spawn duplicates of my companions at their hangout waypoints when they are not in my group?

What you're describing takes place in SOZ in the HQ in Crossroad Keep. I would look in that mod/area and see what's going on.

(edit)  That's having the characters come and go through conversations, though.  If you use the book to bring up the roster dialog, it's more of the same disappearances.

I looked into the scripts a bit more - it seems it's intentional, for them to disappear. I am guessing here, but I think I am right: I believe when the dialog updates the part it is calling RemoveRosterMemberFromParty() to cause the companions to disappear (saving their state).

I think the solution, to do it the way I want to do it, is going to be to spawn copies of the companions at their hangouts, and then despawn those copies when they are in the party.

Going to give it a try and see what happens.

I got it working!

I'm gonna have to post on my journal thread about it. It's pretty cool.

I noticed this was done in SoZ as well. But if you look at the inards of the book placeable it has 00_roster as a conversation. The if you look at the list of conversations in the toolset... its no where to be found? How did they manage that?

It is a campaign conversation. It is in the campaign folder.
