Alan Wake is a great game, especially if you like horror/supernatural type stories and themes. The combat can be a bit awkward at first though.

Alpha Protocol is actually a pretty good game, I always go back to play it every few months and I always find something new or different.  No idea why the reviewers were so harsh on it.  I have heard people say it was buggy but I never ran into any bugs in the PC version aside from one minor one that sometimes occured when you reloaded a saved game - item and object interaction icons would not appear which made it harder to spot items of interest... though at the same time that makes the game more challenging since you don't have a big white arrow saying pick this up.

I got bored of it on the Xbox. Same gameplay from any Lego game.

Silent Hunter 3 for 3 Euros. If unmodded, this game makes a dysfunctional heap of dung. Spend few hours doing your homework @Subsim, download  Grey Wolves and few other mega mods and BLAM, you suddenly have one of the most atmosphetic, immersive and disturbing games ever. It is a WW II era U-Boat sim. Extremely realistic. Comes with heavy RPG elements.  Deals in  flavors of exitenment one just doesn't get in any other video game.

...Be sure not to buy SH 4 or 5, modding community isn't as established and the vanilla game is more unstable in their cases.

I have always heard the gameplay and story are top notch.
