I just did the Fenris and Anders' romance scenes back to back and they're a little too "Twilight" for me? I passed on Isabela's romance a few hours ago, but I do have a save just before (Friendship) and haven't done anything with Merrill in Act 2 (Rivalry). Are either of these less "we are doomed, doomed doomed/I'm not even sure I want to be with you?" I romanced Al in DAO, so some angst is par for the course, but I need a bit of balance.
Looking for a little less melodrama

I never did Merrill's romance, but Isabela's is not like that. On the other hand, she has an "I'm not worthy of you" moment in Act III which I find every bit as annoying. It's only in one scene though, and not a theme.jtav wrote...

DAO's romances in general were much more balanced.

Merrill's romance on the Friendship path is the most normal of all the relationships. She's a bit torn initially because the Dalish aren't supposed to mate with humans and she still wants to repair the Eluvian, but that's the extent of the drama.

There's always Sebastian, but you apparently can't flirt with anyone else to get his romance dialogue. Merrill's romance is very cute, the most normal, despite her obsession with the mirror. I don't know what her rivalry romance is like, though

Isabela is awesome. She does have some trouble with the relationship with Hawke, but it's normal people trouble, not "I'm possessed by a crazy glowing demon" trouble. IMO compared with the male LIs, the female LIs are much less troublesome.
