Is Javik Liara's great great great grandfather?

I think Javik was implying something much darker than "dating" in that comment of his.

Well, anyway, I got the distinct sensation from this run that NegaShepard was right that he'd make a better Shepard than my Failshep. In fact, he struck me as a legitimately wise man when he said he'd have chosen Kaidan over Ashley.
Of course, Failshep managed to escape the iridium vault. Whenever Failshep succeeds at anything, it's OOC. Don't know how I've managed to push myself to still keep fail-writing the sod.

Priority: Earth is almost like you're alone fighting the war on your own... ;) (not literally, but it sure carries that tone through most of your run around London....)

It's not hard to play a FailShep that:
-is fresh from ME3 (no ME1-ME2 import)
-Action Mode (which appears to actually have some unique dialogue at a few points, I think)
-Avoid all or most sidequests or optional missions

It then becomes an almost purely 'war story'. In some ways that severely harms the journey, but in others, it seems to show...an interesting perspective. I don't consider it OOC at all for a 'FailShep' to succeed at something. Each Shepard is a separate character.

That's not really a twist though. I get the Stargate vibes from the Thessian temple. But Javik being Liara's great great great grandfather?
That's gonna make everything awkward.

@SwobyJ
But the definition of a fail Shepard is for him to fail at everything possible, and the worst possible fail is when your setup is as strong as it can be. I did all the side quests, loyalty missions and DLC for my Failshep, but he still walked into ME3 with only un-familiar Garrus and unloyal Tali alive. It's hardly the strongest possible setup.
Whenever my Failshepard manages to do something like survive the Suicide Mission, I feel like he probably shouldn't have. But then I have to keep going or else I won't have more opportunities to fail. The most absolute failshepard would be to have a perfect playthrough and then pick refuse, resulting in everything going to waste.
What I'm doing with my Neutral Shepard shouldn't even be possible. Surviving and retaining command despite almost nothing going right.

And I still think that both Priority Earth and the Citadel: The Return are both tonally inconsistent, but it's mostly because Earth has this very militaristic WWII feel to it, that it stands completely counter to the last 20 minutes.

I'm sure that tonal shift was completely deliberate.

I've moved on with that ME2 playthrough. Since I didn't want to do Mordin's LM, I decided that the best way to proceed was to simply get Shepard arrested right away, so I skipped Jacob, Grunt, and Mordin's LMs, as well as the bunch of the N7s. (Couldn't do Samara, Tali, Legion, or Thane's LMs since they were all dead, so this was a pretty short ME2 run).

I've got as far as Grissom Academy. One more stop at the Citadel and it's off to Tuchanka, and betrayal. Good to see Jack again -- pity they don't show off her N7 tattoo, but I guess ass shots in ME are only for Miranda.

How... How did Mordin survive the suicide mission if he wasn't loyal?
I had trouble keeping non-loyal Tali alive in my neutral playthrough, and her defence score is higher!

Hum... I explored Uncharted Planets and retrieved an Alliance Probe that had the power of a nuclear bomb. And killed the mastermind behind Elysium in the process.

I guess you just don't have to take him in anything and leave a good squad with good defense behind.

Mordin had a tendency to die while loyal if you so much as left him with the whole loyal squad but took Grunt with you to face the Reaper. Alan got a non loyal jacob, and a non loyal grunt to guard him.
If Mordin didn't die in the Rearguard, then nobody else did. This system is so confusing!

It does carry that tone, it really does, what make's it even more effective is that  Prority:Earth is very long(it took me 3 hours from the fleets arriving to the credits the first time),so you end up fully feeling the weight of the entire thing.

There's a scene during the defend the missles sequence where Shepard says in a very tired voice "Come on, we can do this". When he said that all the exhausation I had came to the fore, I was almost gasping for breath because I was so tired, since I had been playing for much longer than I was used to(I normally play 1 hour at a time before taking a 30 min break).

It's a constant struggle. And even during it, EDI notes that if the Reapers wanted everyone dead, they probably could have easily done it from the start.

(Original ending) Where's the krogan at? Where's the geth? Where's the rachni? Where's the asari, turian, salarian ground forces? Where's Aria's mercs? Did we gather anyone? Anyone..? Anyone...
And even your closest allies fall or are pulled back.
And now you stand alone.
Alone.

Why does it feel like there's only a secluded segment of human soldiers doing most of this thing? (aside from a couple camera shots, which mostly trigger when Shepard makes the *specific call* for them to do something)

Google Suicide Mission Flowchart and you'll get a chart that lays it out for you.

In my playthrough Legion and Thane died in the space battle, and Tali died in the vents. I took Jack and non-loyal Samara to the final mission, and had Zaeed escort the Normandy crew back. This made my average exactly 2.0, so no further casualties except Samara.

Wow, so having more squaddies can actually drag your defence score down?
Fascinating. Makes sense though. Loyal Garrus + Non Loyal Tali / 2 = 2.0, so everyone lives... which is what happened to me.

Yup. Well, I beat the three trilogies today.
I'm still pissed that after sacrificing EDI to save himself, Shepard didn't even get a rescue sent after him.
I'm still sad that Miranda didn't get invited to the Normandy for the memorial service - they really didn't want to waste time declaring him dead, or maybe they just didn't like her.
I'm still upset that Femshep has lost her sense of humour and relaxed personality after turning into a Reaper Goddess.
I'm still afraid that Garrus won't let her assume direct control of his calibrations.
I still think that Failshep was a complete waste of time.
But at least now I can move on.

Final advice: Take it from me, if anyone wants to do simultaneous playthroughs, play two, not three. Three is too many. Diminishing returns hit already in ME1, in ME3 they become unbearable. I can't believe that I wrote a character with less intelligence and charm than the Catalyst.

Wiped out the geth, for the benefit of all. Retook Omega and killed like 200 people in the process.

hm... Let me see...

Ah, I killed all the colonists of Zhu's Hope.

Edit: Also, I left Kaidan to die on Virmire
Got angry at Saren

Ah, I killed Darius too... That scumbag wanted to humiliate me... ME!
His last request before dying was to Shepard ask him nicely and with a "please"
And I said: Stop the Raids, give us the element zero and I won't put a bullet in you. Please.
And then he attacked . Oh well...

Headed to the Citadel. The Council impounded me and my ship and Anderson got shot. Udina stabbed me in the back.

I had..... Love relations..... with Ashley and headed to Ilos.

Then, I discovered Vigil and headed to the Conduit and entered the Citadel and killed Saren and left the Council to die.

THE END! :D

I gave up on my Sentinel Femshep ME3 playthrough and deleted the save file just after getting Javik, it was just not fun at all. I missed playing as a Vanguard, I missed Sheploo and Ashley(I saved Kaidan on my Femshep save) and Jennifer Hale's voice was really annoying me for some reason. I dragged myself through ME2 but ME3 was a step too far I think, playing on would be a major disservice to Femshep.

I did wonder for a moment whether re-rolling my FemShep as a Vanguard would make a difference to my enjoyment of the game, but then I realised that it wouldn't be the same without Sheploo, he's what makes the Vanguard for me.  I haven't played my Sheploo since June and I never realised how much I missed playing as him. It feels like a mistake to have played as Femshep first, but my logic at the time was if i played as Sheploo first I would end up never playing my Femshep save at all because i would be too focused on my main.

I guess it's worked out for the best since I have brought my Femshep through to ME3 when I otherwise probably wouldn't have, but I'm not sure I'll ever play as her in ME3 after taking the Shepguard drug once again. It felt so good Biotic Charging again, just as good as taking cocaine, not that I would know what that feels like.....The rush you feel when you close in and then BAM! Shotgun. Zoom to the next enemy and another BAM! Shotgun. It was beautiful.

I'm playing Mass Effect with a smile on my face once again.

I just don't like how tired Jennifer Hale sounds and when she's angry she has a very unconvincing pronounciation or pressure to her words. In ME1 and ME2 she was probably a little bit more natural sounding than Sheploo, but in ME3 Mark Meer outdid her performance by several miles in my opinion.

I also gave up on my femshep. I just don't like Jennifer's voice acting.

I really liked Jennifer Hale's voice acting in 1 and 2, but in 3 she sounds bored. A lot of her sentences end kind of breathy (for lack of a better description) and it bugs me. But it did prompt me to do more MaleShep play throughs. I only had one before ME3.

Finished my latest playthrough tonight. Was pretty interesting seeing some things I hadn't before. I killed Balak specifically so I could see what happens in 3 without him. I think it works out better that way. Instead of a terrorist running around killing humans because GRR HUMANS, Aratoht blablabla, it's a Batarian trying to secure food and medicine for his people. Good stuff.

Loved the little moment with my Femshep and Samara. Whyohwhy couldn't she have been a regular romance? So, then of course my Femshep wakes up with Javik after the party? *sigh*

I recruited Kasumi, Zaeed, Garrus and Mordin today, then I went planet scanning for 90 mins and got enough resources for every upgrade in the game, including the grossly overpriced Med Bay to heal my Sheploos face. I can now divert my full attention to the rest of the missions without any worry.
