I had played well over 100 hours when I had to do a system state restore on my XP operating system. The snapshot for the restore was taken a few days before DAO had been installed. After the restore, I no longer see the game in my list of Add/Remove Programs but more importantly, the game will not load. Instead of loading, I get a 'Quit' window with the message: "Error initializing PhysX. Please visit http://www.nvidia.com/physx for updated drivers." I could find nothing at the website regarding those drivers. 

I tried loading the 1.02 patch again but it made no difference, same error message. What must I do to get the game to play once again? Please help.

Download and install latest (at the moment of posting this) PhysX . You may also check Windows Update for VIsual C++ Redistributable updates.

Edit: you should try reinstalling the game if it still doesn't work.

Thanks, this looks to be exactly what I was looking for but unable to find at Nvidia. It should do the trick.

I have 9.12.0209 of Physx and i have xp and no one can help me
