Can't we all just get along? I mean, c'mon guys. AQ and FTL had a good run, and even though it started as a competition, I'm not seeing any animosity from either of them. Sure, a few harsh words to console players, but those happen all the time.
All the issues I'm seeing are coming from the spectators, whether they're defending or attacking the competitors.

We could just, y'know, move on?

I for one think it is absolutely ridiculous that people see pc players and assume everything is either way easier or hacked and blah blah blah, pc has a much higher "skill" ceiling( for lack of a better word) just appreciate what people do regardless of console.

I don't actually care about anything that was/is going on between FTL and AQ. However, I do have an issue with the way FTL seems to put his foot in his mouth most of the time.

True competition would be if we played in a same room or at least in the same city. 


Yep that is the only way we can both show our true potential. I think these console gamers dont realise that they mostly live in the same country (USA) and do not experience the kind of lag we do. On PC we live thousands of miles apart in different countries, seperated by oceans and the only definitive way to get a reliable connection is to host the games. Playing Off-host is like gambling you either get lucky with a good connection or you suffer demoralising lag.

That number depends on the amount of lag and the player skill and understanding on how to play in lag. Additionally, if 2 ppl experience the same amount of lag conditions, then this is just as sufficient to judge skill as when these 2 ppl play with no lag at all.

 

Not even close. The difference in aggresiveness and what you can pull on host can't be even compared to off-host where even 100 ms lag can mean the death of a Vanguard or a squishy class. On host you know exactly how much you can push and not die, off host - the lag always fluctuate. 


Of course u can be more aggressive on host, that is common sense. This is not even the topic at hand. The topic is the number 3 being used as a concrete factor of how well a player will perform. Having any number without a mathematical backup is foolish, and u can never account for randomness, so at best, you would have a range rather than a whole number.

 

LOL. Yeah 3 was made up. But I've seen plenty of "BSN celebrities" die multiple times on Gold and even Silver when they lag a bit. And die in the stupidest easy situations imagineable. You can't really predict lag, you get spikes and then it seems to get a little better and then it spikes again. And those spikes are random and usually at the worst possible time.

This flaw is easily fixed by staying away from topics you have no experience with. :wizard:

On the topic if redjohn saying pc first. The whole Thunderdome thing, wasn't that started by xbox? I thought disciple invented Thunderdome?

It was disciple or Cain, not sure which.

the whole thunderdome thing was a little odd IMO. People think it means so much but in my eyes it's just another duo map/enemy combo and definitely not the hardest this game has to offer, that belongs to annomander i believe :P
