The fact that it's coming out fall of 2014 isn't what bothers me. I really hope that taking an extra year to make the game brings back the quality of DAO.

What bothers me is that Bioware let everyone think the game was going to be released in 2013 for months, and then releases a vague video that simply tells us it's not coming till fall of 2014. Thats too early to release a video. Why didn't they just tell us on the boards about the delay when it became known and release the video at a more appropriate time.

Does that mean we will be waiting months more for any new bit of info on the game? I don't like it when people put a very shiny but very tiny carrot on a stick, and expect me to follow it for a year before i even get a taste.

I really do wonder about why the delay. Some have said its about the new engine
but who knows ? my guess is that they discovered some significant bugs or they decided to make a major change to the story .

I don't mind the added time. I have other games that I can play until DA:I is released.

You must be new to games. Delays happen all the time and some comapnies sometimes will delay the game from it's orignal launch intention so the game is complete and not pull a Bethsda with Skyrim.

If anything, the later release date raises my expectations, so I don't think it'll turn out too well, but, i have faith.

I'm dying from the wait BUT I can only imagine the amaze-sauce that'll be oozing out of the game with all the time they have to perfect it.

That sounded gross, but I'm glad they're getting lots more time. I'm excited! :)

I'm of the same mindframe. I'd rather they take their time and put out quality product than have them rush it out and end up disappointed. In fact, they could delay it further, and although I might get bummed, I'd be ok with it.

Why are the simple-minded still stating the longer the wait time the better the game . I don't wanna wait that long for a frigging video game ! Look at what happen to the Final Fastasy's games. The wait time could be 5 ,6,or 10 years and the game could still suck . And I am sure that people will still find something that they don't like/hate about DA3 ..nit-picking little s***s that they are.<_<

Bioware deserves better fans..

Nah. You get the fans that you deserve.

So very wrong ...

I'm surprised someone is actually sad about it. Personally, I'd push it back even further if I could, for RPGs I like to think that sequels should be at least three full years apart from each other and the longer they're in production the better they'll be when they come out. I say let them take their time, hopefully they learned with their mistakes in DA2.

It is roughly around 3 years already. They said they where working on this game while  they were working on the second one and that was a couple years back so they are right on time then. :)

DA:O took 6 years you can't rush quality games like that (case in point DA2), I'll let them take their time even if I have to wait for 2 more years to get a DA:O quality game again.

Never talk about DA:O's development time again, that was so horrible to wait months and months with no new info

As for the OP I kind of see your point, I too want it to be there now so I can live a new adventure in Thedas but we both know that having the devs take their time is the best way to get a very good and polished game don't you agree? :D

I was disappointed at first, but now I'm quite happy about the delay. Not only does it give the devs the time to make the game the way they want it, it gives me the time to play all the other games I want to play. Steam sales, they tempt me so.

When I saw the advert a
while back now I felt a little down to be honest. First it was said they were
aiming to bring it out at the end of 2013 then there where roomers it would
come out of the BEGINNING of 2014 but now it's at the end of 2014? People did say they
may stall for the new console but doesn't that come out of the beginning of
next year? So why wait another year to be released? I personally have been waiting
a long time already and now I have to wait another year. If they still need to work and improve on it, then far enough if they are making improvements. But
if the game is complete and finished why do we have to wait so long?

Anyone
else feeling upset over this? :crying:

No.

Nononono!

No.

Nooooooooooooooo!!!

....

Well maybe a little

But all the no's feed into a larger, deeply held belief that BW needs longer development cycles so they can playtest a game to death and beyond so we, the gamers, don't end up beta testing their product. Pointing out all the little niggles that really ought to have been ironed out before release, and then ignored.

Let them take all the time they need so they get it right first time out the gate.

But above all, keep telling them what's important.

DA won't have the Face import problem of ME3, but BW need to understand their fans and what i important to them alot more than other developers. Being a story driven RPG centric developer they need to know that fans want video game's that happen to play out like a live action movie. Not a live action movie where you bearly have any input and a few fights inbetween.

Interactivity. Lot's of RPG stuff to do. Immersive fun. It'll all take time to finish up and polish off. So they can take all the time they need,

Sorry I'm not American, we don't use the word "fall" her often. I thought that meant at the end of the year. So when is it coming out?

sorry I didn't mean to sound like an a**. fall is late September to mid November if I remember right

Nope. Just want it to come out next year with tons of great features, polish, QA testing, and DA goodness. More time = greater chance to be polished and implement more things they want and we want.

DAO took six years because they had to make thedas so to speak. they had to write all the lore the religion the history and everything else. It didn't take six years to do the stuff they are for DAI. also there comes a point when it is bad to take so long.

Development
DA2 had 8-11 months development it was not finished, the characters were lacking everything was lacking

ME2 about 2 years lots of content cut including the citadel dlc would have been a mission in me 2, a mission to get legion earlier, a vital plotpoint where you speak to the dying reaper, separate mission for the IFF

ME3 about 2 years  it was not finished, lots of things cut indoctrination, boss battle, 3 missions on thessia, Javik/eden prime, misions on tuchanka & rannoch, priority earth (on priority earth you would have seen every choice you had done here on the ground/sky/space), the ending, more faitful romaces & more

So no I'm not upset over the delay
