When I was 20 I was raving it up in the Brighton clubs. The thought of buying a house and settling down never entered my head. So enjoy being in your 20s. You're only young once!

Oh to be 20 again *sigh*

I grew up pretty quickly because when I left school at 15, I went straight into a full-time job. I couldn't mess around or anything. It was just something I had to deal with and get stuck into, which was very hard at times, especially when all my old school friends were still attending classes and getting their A-levels. After that, whilst they were all heading off on around the world trips before University, I was in a long term relationship and subsequently dealing with a horrible break up and drug problem. By 25 I thought maybe I had it all sorted out because I was living with someone, in a house with a mortgage, and engaged to be married. Turns out that wasn't meant to be either.

I've been working in the same job since I was 15 (I'm now 29) and I still don't feel satisfied with that. I feel there is more I could and should be doing for a career, but I am actually getting married next month so at least there is that.

I honestly think there are a lot of people who feel weird about growing up, especially if they don't have all their sh*t together. Don't panic.

My dear little sister is 21 now, and I'll hit 30 next year. I guess in some ways I'm even farther away from "being an adult" than she is, but all in all we both go our way.

Of all my close friends only one is reeeally doing the whole grown-up stuff yet - she's married, has two lovely kids, her husband is pushing his career and they plan to build a house soon. I watch these strange dealings with an even mix of awe, envy and lack of comprehension... ^^

If it is any consolation OP, most 20 year olds are still  insufferable brats. Them being technically more mature than teenagers is overshadowed well enough by their firm., very slowly diminishing belief that since they are all grown up and 20 years of age and all, they know and understand absolutely everything about world and life by now.  If business is all srs and you are itneracting with them in some sort of formal environment, one actualy has to pretend you see an adult when looking at them. Which oftentimes brings a headacheD:.

Early 20s is a great time.

You're an adult but not yet bogged down by a lot of responsibilities. Make the most of it! It will be gone before you know it.

Only because you make it so OP. Biologically you were 20 years old months back when we count the time in the womb. Birthdays are just events organizations cash in on. Nothing more. Nothing less. Not to mention the year being determined by the full rotation of the planet. Maybe some aliens somewhere (who live as biologically long as us) only add a year every time their planet rotates 20 times or something. So they die aged 4-5 in their own terms.

The truth of the matter is that when you start thinking you're old you'll feel old and numbers only make you feel older even if your body is still young, strong and healthy. For me, 20 years old? I still feel pretty young unfortunately.

Can't even grow a full beard yet and I blame the poster above me. That's why the bastard in my profile pic is clean shaven.

No one ever has any idea what's going on......you just get better at hiding that fact as you get older.

The best part of growing up is realizing just how immature most "adults" actually are.

Another birthday gone by is just that much more in student loans that not even the well paying co-op jobs can pay for. F*ck.
