Just recently started playing Dragon Age: Origins, I tried to played the game my way with no spoilers.
It seemed to go well, I planned on just playing the main missions with some side quest here and there.
But from what I have been told was to do ALL side quests first then try and do main missions because it would be hard on me to complete the main missions (Just learned this today).
So, I completed the first few missions and once I became a Grey Warden, I went to Redcliffe and killed the mother of the demon child.
Then, I went to Orzammar to get some allies, defeated Branka (As level 11 - 12, which was a pain in the ass btw)
Now, I'm in the Fade trying to get Morrigan, Alistair, and Wynne out of it as well. I have not gotten the Urn of Ashes yet nor did I unite the Elves to be on my side.
So,  now I am kind of questioning if I should restart with a new Warden and do all side quests first or continue on. As mentioned, Branka was hard to beat IMO and now I'm in the Fade. Will the boss be hard to beat or no? Right now I have three of the four powers and defeated one demon so far. Any feedback would be grateful! If you need to know my class, I picked Human (Noble, Warrior).

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just playing the game without spolers and simply having fun is one of the best ways to game. You can always do a powergaming playthrough later if you feel like it.

Circle tower is probably the easiest of the main quests, and many people like to do it first to get the free attribute points early.

Note that side quests become impossible to complete after a certain point, so don't delay too long.

You really should follow a guide for the fade so you pick up all attributes, here
http://social.biowar...66/index/517400

And i must say you are really good if you could do the spider queen in deep roads under Orzammar at that lv.
For me i do it in following order, from least difficult to most difficult
1] Lothering with those side quests
2] Redcliffe
3] mage tower
4] brecilian forrest
5] denirim, at least part of it
6] village of haven for the urn quest
7] orzammar and if i had some additional streetfighting in denirim

Yeah, I made the mistake of not looking at guides as I thought it would be somewhat like Mass Effect with many quests/missions.
I actually was having so much trouble with Branka for several hours due to my Warrior dying at the very start that I thought that I was pretty horrible at the game, but luckily I had Morrigan to beat the girl by herself. Posted Image
But thanks for the advice, I appreciate it!

I wouldn't worry too much. The Branka fight is a tough one at the best of times, seriously. Most people do the Deep Roads last and are fully levelled/geared when they reach that fight. It's just hard. :)

Continue on! And remember, there are a number of stat-boosting areas in the Fade, so that should help you :)

I thought it would be listing which missions to go to first but was wrong. Wasted several hours on that fight, but glad that I am done with the Fade and her mission. But, my question now is can I do Morrigan's quest? Is Flemeth hard to beat? I'm currently level 15 or 16, with close to three hundred health.

Sorry for asking so many questions, just started playing a couple days ago and don't want to come across another fight like Branka's. :/

Flemeth's not so bad. Just stock poultices and make damn sure your healer stays away from her.

Also, keep in mind that you don't have to fight Flemeth to get her grimoire for Morrigan.

If you do choose to fight, spread out your followers.

I actually received the Grimoire and gave it to Morrigan, she gave me some ring in return.
But, I never realized how to get back to the camp, and when I read up on how to, she approached me and asked for this favor. I've been doing mostly side quests now, but not sure if I should leave this for later on in the game or to just go and unite the elves and/or get the ashes. Just wondering because she turns into a dragon, as I read and was wondering if it would be like the Branka fight that I had yesterday.

I'd say it wouldn't hurt to do some side questing from time to time - as I said earlier, side quests can no longer be completed after a certain pont.

Depending on your party composition/fire resistance - Flemeth can be fairly trivial: have one melee tank and three ranged characters spread out. Wynne alone can do wonders with her healing in that fight. Note that Flemeth stays in one place the entire fight.

Yeah, thanks. I was wondering about who to go with because I mainly have a party consisting of Alistair, Wynne, and Morrigan mainly for her freezing and energy drain powers, but don't think I can take Morrigan on the quest.
I've done most side quests but was thinking Flemeth would be considered a side mission as well so was unsure if I should go and get it done or just continue on and get the ashes or elves then go as I might get more leveled up.

You can't take Morrigan for that quest.

As to the two remaining main quests, I'd say the elves are easier.

Visit the elves mate, the dragon fights in the game are quite tough for a first timer unless you want to read up and ruin the fun of figuring it out yourself. Them dragons like to chew and chew real hard. Yet you can give it a go if you prefer; just keep a save handy.

Yeah, that's what I plan to do later actually after completing the side quests as it took several hours and about hundreds of deaths to get through Branka. Just gonna complete all side quests that I can possibly do then as I might become higher with experience, I'll try it, just don't want another Branka wannabe fight. Posted Image If I can't complete it, then I'll reload and try the Elves unification out. =]

If i were in your armor, i would take a look at money exploits and buy some good stuff,
since fighting with poor equipment is such an uphill battle.
There are also some mods with better buy/sell prices
evons chest armor in wades shop in denirim
lifegiver ring in orzammar
andruils blessing belt in mage tower
spellward amulet in camp.

Then there is also plenty of mods for more experience gathering,
made even more important if you havnt got interest or knowledge of all sidequests,
you won't reach lv 25, i'm guessing you end up at lv 21 at the end.
here is a few

Sorry, I play on Ps3. Thought of playing it on PC but don't really have much memory on my computer plus share it with others in my house. I actually did that, though. Was really upset seeing how my Warden would almost automatically die first or second behind Alistair but now specced them up with the best armor that I see in the stores that I come across, sadly I am now low on money to buy anything. (Busy buying runes and gems for the dwarf and mage at my camp, also for buying equipment for other party members as well) I do pretty well when I'm with Wynne, though.

EDIT: Plus, I never ever use mods when playing games at all. So, don't know how it would work out for me, as I have no experience with it. I just like playing games the way they are supposed to. =]

Well, keeneaow promotes exploits, mods and glitches all the time. These cheats of course won't apply to console players.

I didn't really think it would work better on a PC. I do pretty well on it, the only time that I died was during that Branka mission. Still unsure on how to make my squad mates to target one enemy but it's alright for me on the console. But, if it sounds good, I specced up Wynne's healing to some type of healing aura, as I figured that it would help as I barely have any health poultices.

A good idea, that aura also remove injuries, so you can save yourself money by not buying injury kits,
a 2nd specialization for her could be Arcane Warrior, not for activating her combat & turn her into a tank,
but for the increased mana regeneration that AW brings,
AW is unlocked in brecilian forest in the ruins, where you should go.
Personally i make a new save frequently, one reason is DA crashes once in a while,
another reason is so i dont have to go back so far if i messed up something

I will try that out once she levels up! I greatly appreciate it because I notice that she just stands there away from my group spamming heal and once in a while raising her stick to do some type of damage deal towards enemies.  Posted Image I made the mistake of making Morrigan try lock picking early on and could have gave it to some other power instead. (Didn't have Zevran at the time and I came across many locked chests.)

First RPG game that I've played that has dragons in it, lol. Always been not interested in the whole killing dragons and the combat of this game sometimes is a little iffy when somehow my character misses every shot that he does towards an enemy with his sword. :/ But, nonetheless I really love story in a game and it's really a good change from playing Mass Effect. (One of my favorite games and favorite multiplayers to play!) =] Just hope that when I beat it that Dragon Age: 2 can give me somewhat of a decent story as I have heard bad things about it.

Ask as many questions as you like :) If you're after fighting tips though, you could visit the strategy section of the DA:O forum. That might get you some more help in specific battles without resorting to cheats.
