Meaningful fights on each map.
Don't give me the same battle 50 times on every map. It's just boring and an insult to the gamer's intelligence. If we didn't die on the first fight, why the hell would we die on the exact same encounter the 15th time? Cut the amount of battles down in 1/2 or more and make every encounter much more meaningful.
Also, fix the loot system. There is nothing more frustrating than killing a gang of high level enemies and getting a couple of potions and a crappy crafting item. More meaningful loot + fights = much better combat experience over all.
And for godsake, balance the combat system. I understand mages are supposed to be powerful, but the best party should not be 3 mages + 1 meatshield. More downsides (eg FF, casting times, squishiness, mana pot restrictions) should be implemented so that each class can shine. I was supremely disappointed in my warrior once I found out the trick to Dragon Age's combat system. My warrior was relegated to clean-up duty instead of holding the line and pressing the attack. Instead, she just cleaned up all the enemies that were left after Wynne/Morrigan vaporized 90% of each group.
What we want for the next sequel of DOA
