A call to modders!! Editing coalesced to get Shep to lower or holster weapon?

I am pathetic and really miss being able to have Shepard lower or holster his/her weapon while not in combat. To be honest, trying to explore with the gun drawn makes me feel ill... I think due to the narrow field of vision and all the spinning around I have to do to see things.

There was some discussion on this thread about how to edit coalesced to get Shepard to put weapons away by
switching to explorer mode (which is the mode you're in when you're running around on the Citadel). Though this method does work, it also sucks. Everytime you want the gun out of your face, you have to wait fora loading screen, and if enemies pop out at you, you can't pause combat and take your gun out. You have to reload back into combat mode to get your weapons back.

So I was just wondering, are there any modders out there who've figured out how to get Shep to lower his/her gun, like squadmates can when they're not shooting? Or like Shep does himself when he gets close to a wall? Or alternatively, is there a way to edit coalesced so that you can holster/unholster and stay in combat mode (so that you don't have to reload each time)?

I spent a disgusting amount of time last night messing around with coalesced and trying to hackcheat something that works together, but I just have no idea what I'm doing. I thought it might be worth it to come on here and beg for some help.

There will be cake if you can point me to a fix for this!!

Anyone? :( Any ideas at all for commands that could be bound to a key to make this happen, etc?

I wasn't kidding about the cake. I would literally send you baked treats (from a bakery near you so that you didn't have to worry about food poisoning from some psycho on the internet) if you had an answer for this.

I dont want cake, but I can tell you already this wont be easy, as the pose is stored in the animation tracks, not much researched yet...here and changing stuff on the fly isnt easy too. You could even try to edit gamecode, but no one has succeded yet with it...

greetz WV

PS:also have you tried to use your coalesced commands on the ingame console? maybe you can change things without reloading

Ooooh, I wanted to achieve the same, for reasons.
I think that in my latest findings, there was a command that you could trigger via custom key bindings that lets Shepard drop any weapon he or she has in hand. *dropWeapon* or something like that.
You won't get the holster animation though.
I miss that too. It made a lot more sense and it looked less stupid.

EDIT> it's *ThrowWeapon* - from what I remember, it does set your Shep to the default standing stance, but I may remember wrong.

Thanks both of you! And to Mimitochan, do you know where you insert the "ThrowWeapon" command? Like, is it under sfxgamemodebase?

I'm just going to try entering it random places for now, to see if I can figure it out on my own.

EDIT: I tried binding "ThrowWeapon" to a key by inserting the following line under bioinput --> sfxgamemodebase:

( Name="H", Command="ThrowWeapon" )

So the good news is, Shep will drop any weapon. The bad news is that he/she will LITERALLY drop it, like a heavy weapon and it also broke my Shepard's arms. If I hit H, Shep would drop it like it's hot, but then her arms would be all messed up (one of them was kind of dislocated through her body). She then floats around over the battlefield like some sort of strange wraith-creature.

Good for a laugh at least.

@theborg: haha, sorry about that - I hope you had already seen her like that before - else it may have been an awful surprise :D

Actually, I was gonna suggest switching between Combat pawn status on and off, but it looks like you explored that solution already.

As WV said, I doubt you'll be able to get anything better than that - the game waits for a gun in Combat mode, so changing that, or adding an extra feature would be rather complicated.

Sorry about that.
