Mass Effect: Foundation #4 - I should be more excited

At any rate, Im not sure why that matters. Does Kaidan's previous attraction for Rahna, or Liara, or some random dancers in Chora's Den, affect anything at all in a relationship with Shepard? Why does it matter that Rahna, Liara, or those dancers weren't male?

NO they don't. They let certain characters have certain sexualities across all playthroughs. Kaidan is just as Bi in your game as mine.Rauhel wrote...
Because there is no point in arguing with people about it. They think all characters are completely the same in all playthroughs, and I disagree. What more is there to say? I like what David Gaider had to say, and I choose to apply his approach to BioWare romances to my playthrough. I get to define my Shepard's relationship with his love interest. I avoided all mention of Rahna completely by accident. I didn't even know who she was until I started posting on the forums.MegaSovereign wrote...
You keep ignoring people who are straight up telling you that ME1 already confirms his previous relationship with Rahna.
But whatever. I don't expect you people to understand what it's like to grow up having absolutely zero examples of love and romance that applies to you, or what it means to me to finally have a fictional gay couple I can look up to as role models. Children are bombarded with love stories. Every princess has a prince, every action hero has a girl he gets to rescue. I never had that. I couldn't understand what it was like for a man to love a man because it was so foreign to me. Shepard and Kaidan mean the world to me. I just happen to get more satisfaction from it being a gay relationship, and not just a same-sex relationship. All I'm saying is I'm sad that Mac Walters didn't take that into account, since my understanding was BioWare lets me choose the sexuality of my love interest.

And all we're saying is: it shouldn't matter. You either like Kaidan for the man he is, as he is written (and not merely for the dialogue you heard him say in your save-game) or you don't. If you do, him being bi is not a problem. If you don't, you do not truly like his character, but your headcanon version of it. And to that end...

... there is no accounting for headcanon.

Because he was in that movie is the reason why I can't him serious in X-men First Class

Does not being sexually attracted to black people make me racist? No?
Does not being attracted to women make me sexist? I didn't think so.
Why does not being attracted to bisexuals make me bigot? Explain that to me.
I want the Shepard and Kaidan romance to be everything I was missing as a kid, which it is. It's just more fulfilling when I picture them both as gay men because I identify with it more. If that makes me a bigot, then I guarantee I'm not the only bigot in this thread.

Kaidan is bisexual in everyone's playthrough. This is canon and the upcoming comic does not violate that.

Is that the logic you were going for this whole time? I think you failed. What you said had nothing to do with attraction, you just wanted Kaidan to be gay because that's your preference, meanwhile ignoring the FACT that he's bisexual now.Rauhel wrote...

What you want is one thing, what is there is another. I want a ME3 where I can side with Cerberus. I want to be able to kill Liara. But it can't happen.Rauhel wrote...

For reasons I've stated multiple times. It has nothing to do with intolerance. I am perfectly fine with Kaidan being bi in YOUR story. David Gaider was speaking as a representative of BioWare. What he said in that speech applies to all BioWare games, including Mass Effect. The BioWare approach is to let me define my character's relationship. I identify with gay, so I choose gay.AresKeith wrote...

You can disagree with me taking David Gaider's approach to romance in BioWare games, but calling me a bigot because I disagree with the people that think there is only one way to interpret a character is ridiculous.

He isn't. He's bi. He's bi in everyones playthroughs. Including yours.
Him being in a same-sex relationship doesn't make him any less bi than him being in a opposite-sex relationship.

It isn't an interpretation. Kaidan says flat out that he is attracted to women and asari in ME1. You cannot ignore that without it being headcanon.Rauhel wrote...

What I meant. If I was losing a "debate" like this, I would call it "out of control". I sorta feel bad for OP, he honestly likes Kaidan and wants him to be homosexual rather than bisexual. Though I'm not sure why it makes much of a difference considering that Kaidan will always love his Shepard in his own universe.MegaSovereign wrote...

He didn't in my game. Not once. This type of dituation is also in David Gaider's speech. Don't flirt with a male character, and they won't give you any reason to assume they are attracted to men. Don't talk about girls with Kaidan, and he won't mention liking them.Steelcan wrote...

My Shepard was gay, he didn't care to ask Kaidan for his opinion on ladies.

The only important point is never to give Walters any more money for his "products". That will only encourage him.

Once again, i didn't explicitly ask Miranda if she was into women. That changes absolutely nothing about her. She is still canonically straight. just as Kaidan is canonically bi.Rauhel wrote...
