So, OP, if you meet a guy you like and are attracted to, who's also attracted to you, and you date for a while until he tells you, out of trust, that he's had relationships with several women in addition to men, you would dump his ass because he's not gay?

That would be the same thing as if I dumped a chick for voting on a different party than I do. It's discriminatory, not a preference.

Who gives a damn about what the canon is after what Walters did to it? He blew up the canon, folks.

The only important point is never to give Walters any more money for his "products".

Obligatory ending-related post.

Now we need an obligatory ending-related rebuttal.

It isn't an interpretation.  Kaidan says flat out that he is attracted to women and asari in ME1.  You cannot ignore that without it being headcanon.

He didn't in my game. Not once. This type of dituation is also in David Gaider's speech. Don't flirt with a male character, and they won't give you any reason to assume they are attracted to men. Don't talk about girls with Kaidan, and he won't mention liking them.

My Shepard was gay, he didn't care to ask Kaidan for his opinion on ladies.

Once again, i didn't explicitly ask Miranda if she was into women.  That changes absolutely nothing about her.  She is still canonically straight.  just as Kaidan is canonically bi.

And again, I am using the David Gaider method to BioWare romances. We are now going around in circles.

David Gaider doesn't write for Mass Effect. And Kaidan in the original Mass Effect predates his nonsense anyway.

You keep ignoring people who are straight up telling you that ME1 already confirms his previous relationship with Rahna.

Because there is no point in arguing with people about it. They think all characters are completely the same in all playthroughs, and I disagree. What more is there to say? I like what David Gaider had to say, and I choose to apply his approach to BioWare romances to my playthrough. I get to define my Shepard's relationship with his love interest. I avoided all mention of Rahna completely by accident. I didn't even know who she was until I started posting on the forums.

But whatever. I don't expect you people to understand what it's like to grow up having absolutely zero examples of love and romance that applies to you, or what it means to me to finally have a fictional gay couple I can look up to as role models. Children are bombarded with love stories. Every princess has a prince, every action hero has a girl he gets to rescue. I never had that. I couldn't understand what it was like for a man to love a man because it was so foreign to me. Shepard and Kaidan mean the world to me. I just happen to get more satisfaction from it being a gay relationship, and not just a same-sex relationship. All I'm saying is I'm sad that Mac Walters didn't take that into account, since my understanding was BioWare lets me choose the sexuality of my love interest.

You should have said that you never knew about Rahna since the beggining, I'm sure that would help to reduced a bit this mess.

Maybe what Gaider said will be used in future games, but they are definitely not used here because he simply didn't work in this trilogy.
As opposed to Dragon Age II, the personality of the squadmates doesn't change according to the player, those are chosen by Bioware and only they can modify them: Ashley is a strict military soldier no matter if you are male or female, Jacob is a dull entity no matter what you are or what you do, etc.
Kaidan has admitted being attracted by females a couple of times in the past, if you haven't heard them, it doesn't mean that they do not exist or that your kaidan is gay.

Well, this thread seems out of control.

Not really. This is pretty one-sided.

What I meant. If I was losing a "debate" like this, I would call it "out of control". I sorta feel bad for OP, he honestly likes Kaidan and wants him to be homosexual rather than bisexual. Though I'm not sure why it makes much of a difference considering that Kaidan will always love his Shepard in his own universe. :?

Have you read the OP? He wants BioWare to acknowledge his specific headcanon IN A COMIC[/u]. And that Kaidan's canon crush on Rahna is "lovey dovey" crap that shouldn't be acknowledged.

Gaider is not qualified to speak on ME romances now is he?

I like how the only pont of the Evolution comic was to introduce the basis for the EDI sex robot.

Bioware should be applauded for taking time to represent those who want to bang robots. That's what sci-fi is about, right?

Its already here, wait until you see what they are cooking for you in thirthy years from now. good bye sex trade.

I did indeed read it.

I'm still not sure why it bothers him so much that someone is bisexual. I might have missed a post about it, but I doubt he has a good answer other than jealousy. :?

Gaider is a DA writer, not a ME writer. Kaidan is into women no matter what. Don't give me that "It does not happen in your game" Bullcrap. It does happen in your game. You simply ignore it and implant headcanon. Like I said, headcanon does not need to be respected at all, more so when it goes against the character. For somebody who likes a character so much, you're doing alot of work on trying to "erase" something part of the characters past.

Cleary Isabela is straight if you play a malehawke. All that talk of her having sex with women never happens. OP said so.

I want to be in a relationship with someone who isn't attracted to women and understands what it's like to be pressured into liking something you just can't like. I also wouldn't date someone who had vastly different political or religious views, either. It's important to me that we agree on that kind of stuff. Guess that means I'm a bigot because I want to be able to relate to the person I'm with.

Are you satisfied? Did I give you all the colors you need to paint me as this raging biphobic monster?

Someone should tell the vegans that only want to date other vegans that they are discriminating against meat-lovers.

@OP, if you are looking for an exclusively gay romance for Shepard. Kaidan is not it. Cortez is the only exclusively gay character. Traynor is the only exclusively lesbian character. Traynor is always lesbian regardless of FemShep or MaleShep, just as Kaidan is always bi.
