Which is more powerful? They both have a skippable CC power, they both have incinerate. The only difference is shield drain versus overload. Overload does superior damage and is a much better detonator, but shield drain staright up tanks damage allowing the Salarian to play 5x more aggresively.
Honestly I think the Salarian is the better of the two.

The Human Dodge is worth considering as superior to the side-hop.
They are decently balanced relative to one another.

What? You're comparing the best stunlocker in the game to a liver delicacy? That's crazy talk!

Human engineer is a really good character but recently I've been playing the Salarian with a Venom and it's great fun. As to which is the most powerful, completely subjective but I'd still go with the vanilla human engineer.

human is better at tech combos and crowd control
salarian better at being a CQC engineer

Meh. I prefer being able to set off fire explosions on organic health and armor. If I wanna play an engi with energy drain I'll just grab my paladin...

Combat drone, skippable?

Best stunlocker in the game is the GI with PM spam every few seconds. But any kit with Arc Grenades would probably have something to say

The human engineer is a better burster, pure power user
The Salarian is a little tankier but I feel like he struggles to CC as well as the HE
As a result I don't think he is as strong a character.
Plus I'd disagree that combat drone is a "skippable" power. The explosive drone can be used as a detonator and it does a fair job distracting phantoms. Im sure there are people that can use decoy well and like it, but I think it sucks compared to combat drone.

Except for the fact that only 1/6 of the enemies will even attack it so it almost never dies...

You have to decide if you want another power that does nearly nothing, or more shields which do nearly nothing.rlucht wrote...

technically you are right but speaking from experience on platinum my drone never lives longer than 3 seconds.. i dont really understand it but it works really well. and you can always use it to get the banshees to do their screm attack

Shields don't waste my cooldowns when I could be using overload/incinerate
Also, rank 5 recharge delay evo is handy.

They are actually both great characters.
Having played them both quite a bit, I prefer the human engineer. Incinerate and Overload are great powers, but the Combat Drone, properly configured, is a beastly little friend. You know, if Overload were replaced with Energy Drain shiled+armor boost = yum!!), I would be even happier.
But yeah, do not skip powers on either. 66653 is a perfectly viable build for either character.
Combat Drone: Detonate, Shock, Chain Lightning <-- my little friend wreaks havoc

Yes, I hae 0 in drone currently. But have spent a small fortune in reset cards on HE since the game came out.rlucht wrote...

They're fairly well balanced unto each other. Perhaps BioWare could have learned from this when making the TGI...

Human because overload is 10x more effective than energy drain in my opinion

If hosting I prefer the human engineer. Being able to take down a Phantoms barriers in a single cast is priceless. If not hosting probably the salarian just because I could be out in the open more and Phantoms are just another enemy...

overload is just too devastating a power so I will give the edge to the human..
also I will always get at least a couple points into either combat drone or decoy cause they pretty much neuter primes.

The difference is overload + shock drone can hit targets from practically anywhere. Mines and grenades aren't really for stunlock... they're for killing trash mobs.
