Of course not.
I never really liked the Collector Sniper because I thought you had to rapid fire it like the Predator or Mattock to get the most out of it. If that isn't so then I'll give some of the builds you suggest a shot.

Would be nice if this gun didn't have a hipfire penalty like the Kishock. I'd probably be abusing this thing if that was the case.

hipfire penalty isn't too bad though and it can save you in a pinch. It's also sufficient enough to kill most mooks with ease, so that you only really zoom in for ful DPS against bosses (not recommended)

It worked extremely well on a Turian sentinel with warp ammos.
And now that I know the extended mag doesnt do anything, it should be even better!

The huntress is my go-to to get any weapon mastery done (you have powers to fall back on if everything goes south).
CSR is just awesome though. It has a small clip size, for sure, but it packs a serious punch. You just need to learn to be disciplined and tap the trigger.

Actually it actually is that high (800 RPM), it just uses 2x ammo after the first several rounds are expended for no reason. Functionally, it makes it kinda like the raptor, except not sucky and you don't have to click as fast as possible.FatherOfPearl wrote...

Does the Thermal Clip gear add to the magazine of the CSR and the other heat-based weapons like the PPR and Lancer? Or does that gear only add to the spare ammo pool of the regular guns?

My thoughts exactly, releasing the trigger briefly every 1-2 seconds doesn't sound nearly as annoying as button mashing on those guns.
Wish I had read this thread more thoroughly two months ago...
For science, does anyone know how many round it has to fire before it "heats up" and starts using 2 ammo per shot? Also, is it based on time (like the PPR) or rounds fired (like the Typhoon)?

Constantly spam Energy Drain on shielded enemies and enemies that can be paralysed temporarily by it and fire Proximity mines at armoured units followed by the CSR - Phantoms, Dragoons, Ravagers... you name it, they will go down surprisingly fast.
I completed the CSR challenge within a couple of Gold matches by using it like this on my SI.
