I used to go for peace, but I've switched to destroying the Geth.
It's the best way out of Walter's Box.
"Hurr the Synthetics die if you pick Destroy!"
"Well that's just EDI now and since I die in the other options...."
*BOOM*
Which choice did you make on rannoch and why?

Ok. I am going to end this 'which weapon is best' argument once and for all.
The best weapon is....and I mean the VERY best weapon in the entire game is....
Whichever freaking weapon you used to drop the enemy. Everything else is personal preference.
Now. Put your epeens back in your pants; you're scaring the children and making the women laugh.
To the topic (are we even discussing it anymore? What the heck, I'm late to the party). In my first playthrough I picked th Geth over Tali. It was a hard decision. But the Geth didn't ask for war. The Quarians forced it on them, each and every time. When offerred a chance for peace, the Quarian not only spit in your face, at one point they SHOT at you. So, they reap what they sow. I was shocked though when Tali stepped off the cliff. Wasn't expecting that. My next playthrough I did something I never had done before, I looked up how to 'win' the scenario...how to save her AND Legion, and make peace between the Quarian and Geth. Then was shocked when Legion died anyways.
Talk about a freaking Kobiyashi Maru scenario. You can't win, no matter what you do. Awesome mission.

Made peace so I can throw the Geth at the Reapers and then picked destroy. Kinda happy about Legion ending up dead as well.
