Sentinel melee build. I always go for DR with Tech Armor.

Vanguard-like Adept. I have one Adept right now and I focused on BEs in ME3.

Weapons Master Soldier. I always focus on ARs with my Soldiers. I want to have Soldier that has every weapon slot filled.

Shotgun Infiltrator. I've always done SR Infiltrator. I want to switch things up a bit.

Sniper Adept. Have one in MP but, I hardly use him. I want to try it in SP.

Claymore Vanguard (ME3 version). I've done Claymore Vanguard in ME2 and destroyed Insanity with him. I want to try it in ME3.

Puppet Master Engy. I have a few Engineers though I used their powers fairly evenly. I'll throw on Dominate as the bonus power.

Sniper Sentinel. Have done AR Sentinel and Shotgun Sentinel. I want to see how this would work out.

Make-shift Infiltrator (Engineer). Similar reasons to Sniper Sentinel.

Pistol Master Soldier. I want to see how well I'll do on Insanity with just a pistol on my Soldier.

Biotic Infiltrator. I always put a tech bonus power on. I'll see how well I do with a biotic bonus power. Maybe Singularity in ME1, Reave or Slam in ME2, and Dark Channel, Lash, or Stasis in ME3.

I still have yet to play as an infiltrator, sentinel or adept. Real life has been keeping me a bit too busy these days, plus ME3 SP just isn't as engaging as ME2's was, unfortunately. Every combination of skills/weapons/tactics is so deadly in ME3 that I just don't feel as much motivation to try out novel builds. Still, I suppose I will make an effort to take all my ME2 Sheps through ME3 eventually.

A shame about the SP mod not working.

You can have so many powers that can be maxed it feels like I've got too many possible strategies.  I'm certainly no ender wiggin.  But luckily with the difficulty I don't have to be.  Question though: Is insanity difficulty equatable to MP gold?  Nevermind that this is after support for the game is gone, but would levels matching platinum have made it better?

It doesn't compare directly to gold all that well.

Enemies are tougher on Gold, but Shepard can have more powers than in MP.  Then again, most player classes are not as good as the high end MP classes, even if you have less powers.

Platinum is too much of a pure DPS race to make a good design for SP, IMO.  But you can change the shield and healthgate durations, as well as the enemy HP to get a bit more difficulty in SP.

Having finally gotten round to watching some of capn223's no charge nova guard videos, I'm thinking about doing a no charge novaguard with the Argus, seeing as it is described as "an excellent close quarters weapon", and the capacitor helmet and chest plate.

Might actually make the vanguard interesting, as opposed to charge->nova->shotgun. rinse and repeat.

Sorry for the necro, but in the last couple weeks I got around to trying some things we discussed here and wanted to share my results.

First up I did the "Drell Shepard" Adept build. It was about as expected: fun, but grenades are too limited to really support Reave + Clusters as a spammable strategy. Pull + Reave makes less than inspiring explosions in SP, so I was falling back to Reave + Throw a lot.

As a side note, I tried the same thing with a Sentinel using Lifts instead of Clusters, to pretty much the same result.

Then I tried a Stasis Sniper Adept with a Mantis. It was effective but the novelty wore off quickly. Spamming Stasis + Sniper left me feeling like I was ignoring two-thirds of the class since there was little reason to use any other biotics on anything less than a boss, of which there aren't really enough in most SP stages.

However, this build evolved into something I hadn't originally planned. I dropped the sniper concept (went back to my trusty Talon) and specced into Singularity as well as Stasis for epic levels of CC. Rounded it out with Warp and Cluster Grenades and it was good times. Probably not an efficient use of a bonus power but quite fun.

And finally, I just finished a play-through as an Energy Drain Sentinel. Now, previously, I firmly believed that ED was inferior to Overload and a complete waste of a bonus on Sentinel or Engineer. So I did this for kicks, slapped on as much Shield bonus as I could, and found it not a bad little combo at all. I was specced for full DR in Tech Armor, making Energy Drain even more efficient. It felt like cheating during the Rannoch arc. So my opinion of Energy Drain has changed somewhat, at least as far as the Sentinel goes.

What do you mean by weapon focused? Adrenaline Rush soldier is pretty weapon focused, even with active ammo powers.

But if you mean basically no powers, I have one with AP ammo sort of in limbo where I didn't really use CS or Adrenaline Rush. You can get through the game that way of course, but you are handicapped a bit.

I know there were guys back in the day that only used ammo powers on Soldier.

I don't think I'll be returning any time soon.

I have had 6 playthroughs in Mass Effect 3 already. Been fun.
However, if I did, I might go full on Tech Armor Turian.

In Citadel DLC, there is a Turian who brags about using Tech Armor as his primary weapon. His other abilities as supporting abilities. I'd probably add fortification. It's not the easiest way to play the game, but it has been proven effective even on Multiplayer.

After the game came out, some people were playing Soldiers carrying all five weapons with a -200% cooldown and they were having success with it. It was never my style personally, but it works if that's what you want to do.

I carry two weapons at most but still consider the class to be "weapon focused," as in I do most or all of my killing with guns.

Soldier generally plays like most 3rd person shooters so if you're familiar with any you'll be mostly familiar with the Soldier class.

This is a bump because last night I played some SP.

I was thinking of trying a character that uses mostly Slam. Maybe even a Slamguard. But my old AR Vanguard already had Slam, so I did Omega using Cryo Ammo and mostly Slam. It was fun for a little bit, but I don't know that I could do the whole game with that gimmick.

Reviewing this thread, I think Red's idea for a chargeless Vanguard w/ Carnage might be fun.

I still haven't done a trilogy playthrough with the Sentinel or the other hybrid i can't remember the name of [not infiltrator, but the soldier-adapt hybrid]

I've only played as an engineer on insanity though. All the others I did on normal difficulty

"Indiana Jones" Shepard sounds interesting. Lash, AR and grenades with the Predator. I might give this a shot.

I've picked up SP again lately and I'm finally gonna import my ME2 Sheps to ME3. I'm trying to come up with ways to reinterpret my old Sheps into the current game. I have about 2-3 Sheps per class and so far I'm finding that all my builds are gonna be pretty much the same for each class and that most of my variation is gonna come from equipment, bonus powers and deliberate playstyle adjustments.
