Hello there kamerads. I had no trouble playing the game on insanity(infiltrator) and NG+ (soldier, which is given), but I can't seem to get a hold of what to do with Hammerheads. Having OCD, I can't simply just move forward and not play Firewalker and Overload. I've beaten the game on 90% insanity, I had to lower down the level when I'm playing this assignments. My question is, how do you play a Hammerhead. Are there any tactics for M44's against 2 turrets? All I'm doing is hide and shoot, but I can't kill the damned turret in 4 mins. Am I missing something?
Also, you can call me a noob for this. Any tips are more than welcome. Cheers
M-44 Hammerhead

Here is one of the first ME vids I made, in a set of Overlord ones. Video quality may not be ideal but I think it shows the tactics.
Basically there are two things you can try to do. One is keep the turret right at the edge of the range where it activates / deactivates. That way you can move forward, start firing as it raises, then backup as it returns fire so you aren't exposed to too much damage.
The other thing is to position near some cover and either hop up to fire, or curve your rockets so they go around the cover. Takes a little practice to get right.
If you start to take damage, just back off behind some cover and let it repair itself. You have plenty of time. There is no time limit for any Hammerhead mission, except the Firewalker one on the ice planet. That just takes a bit of practice for Hammerhead piloting.
The annoying Hammerhead mission is the artifact collection on the planet with a bunch of Geth, but there you don't have to kill them if you can grab the artifact. The same sort of tactics apply (terrain masking / popup, keep at range, hide if you get damaged) with the addition that ramming is a viable tactic. You can try to cheese it with ramming and speed like this.
It will mainly just take some getting used to how the Hammerhead handles. So keep working at it.
