I was playing my module and got completely splattered by a baddie in one area the screen came up for respawn/main menu but nothing happened when I clicked it and I had to close down the game itself then restart it wondering what happened !

Undeterred my band of heroes returned to the scene of the crime marched into the same fight and lost ( deliberately this time ) up came the screen and once again it was stuck and nothing happened.

So back they went killed the baddie and headed off for another battle in a different area ( same module ), decided to fight really badly, died again and up popped the screen but this time there was no problem with the respawn or main menu clicking they both worked fine..

Any ideas ? I have no custom on death anything related to the particular baddie that causes the problem and the same on death script runs through the whole module .

you need to set the module script s in the module property panel. There is an on death event that need to be handled.

It can't be them because in the same module but with a different area and death they work perfectly. They are the same scripts that I use throughout my campaign it's just this one area that it happens in and it's really weird.

What else about the area is different?

Nothing there are no altered scripts at all, none on the baddie, absolutely nothing. It's a total mystery ! It's more like a crash as it seizes up the screen and nothing works when you click it but the fighting continues in the background and you can even kill the baddie with your companions, then rest but you still can't do anything with the PC, respawn or go to main menu !

Four times I've tested it now and four times it's happened. I think I might just have to make my baddie a wimp so it doesn't happen.

Change the tag of the area and check if it still happens. If not, check your death GUI callback scripts for that tag. Chances are low that it helps, but it doesn't cost you a lot to give it a try.

diophant... I just changed the area tag on a copy of the module, put in a new start area, brought in a crash test dummy, fired up the conversation that leads to a fight and died a terrible death...

Then respawned ! Died again respawned because I still couldn't believe it worked, died again and went to the main menu.. No problems at all !

Thank you very much, a strange solution but a good one.

I think the astro-charters got it wrong this year;  Easter is today.  Reading this odd little thread led me to click an old link and, well -  It Lives!!

Bloody lamps.. I put an energy saving bulb in a touch sensitive dimming lamp the other day and blew it up ! That's what I get for trying to save the planet, now it's off to the landfill whilst more fossil fuels are burnt to create a new lamp in a factory which I will have to get from a shop having driven there !

try this:
itemproperty light = ItemPropertyLight(IP_CONST_LIGHTBRIGHTNESS_DIM, IP_CONST_LIGHTCOLOR_WHITE);
SetPlotFlag(bulb, TRUE);
AddItemProperty(DURATION_TYPE_PERMANENT, light, bulb);

Just a warning, but when I did this, my energy bill soared.

If only life was that simple, it would certainly make my gardening business a lot easier when it comes to planting trees !
