You can determine your interactions with them. You can kill off Miranda, mess up TIM's plans, can determine EDI's outlook on life. But Liara is forced to be your friend.

And Miranda is 'forced' to be your lieutenant. She's a part of conversations throughout ME 2 whether you like or not. EDI is 'forced' to help you on missions. TIM is 'forced' to be your boss.

And you can RP an antagonistic relationship with all of them.

It's reasonable to request Liara not coming to Shepard's cabin if you've been rude to her.

However, demanding that Liara not retrieve Shepard's body, not be a part of the ME 3 crew, and never speak to Shepard in ME 3 if you don't like her is utterly ridiculous.

Why? I can kick Allers of the Normandy, why not Liara?

I can't kick out Tali in ME3, why should you be able to kick out Liara?

No, but you have three chances to kill her<_<

Wait... that's not right.... You're saying the opposite of what is true for Tali.

I see, it's sarcasm!

.  That is part of the basic plot to get events moving.  The story would still work if Liara and Shepard didnt like each other.  Motivation and friendship should not be forced onto a PC in a game like ME.

Every new Bioware game had mandatory companions. Why am I forced to recruit Tali in ME1 (she's completely pointless)? Garrus or Jack in ME2? Dragon Age, Dragon Age2, Jade Empire....some companions were optional and some were mandatory.

Very true. You can be so antagonistic that she cuts you off from dialogue completely (if you side with Jack). Liara never gets the hint.. way back in ME1. She's a sucker for punishment.

The exact could be said for nearly every character in every story in existence! Their 'role' could be taken by someone else! That's completely irrelevant!

Liara's function in the story 'could' have been taken by someone else. By you know what? It wasn't.

And it was, in our opinion, a failing on BW's part because of it.

That's too bad. As I said, you aren't going to like every story in every character. Maybe you should whine on that basis instead of the very ridiculous basis of 'No friendly character should exist in an RPG without my personal approval.'

Liara is expendable. When we met Javik, we learnd that everything she new about the Protheans was a faux. Every technical role she has can be performed by either EDI or Tali.

My question would be: Would they want to fill her spot of the Shadow Broker? Tali? I don't think so. EDI? Well, she's a machine so she doesn't need to sleep that much, but being a Shadow Broker wouldn't give her satisfaction. She already has a role to do and it's to be the ship's AI and Joker's assistant.

Why would anyone need to be the Shadow Broker? Liara doesn't do anything important to the story in that role at any point in ME3. It makes one wonder why she was ever made to be the Shadow Broker at all (beyond "it sounded cool at the time").

Exactly. Versus no matter what you do, Liara is your friend. You aren't capable of being mean to her or treating her like crap. You aren't able to dictate your relationship with her. Everyone else is different, except her. And she's arguably the one person who I want to do it to most.

Oh you mean by killing a whole race instead of telling her no, stay with the quarians to help them after Rannoch? Ya great choice.

The whole SB plot was barely even used in ME3. They could have cut it completely, along with Liara.

So you have no problems with Liara retrieving Shepard's body and the events of LotSB, then?

Tali was the one who actually found out about Saren and the Reapers, without her, Saren would've succeded.

It takes away from the RP part of RPG if you do that though. Just saying. Because it seems that most other RPG's in existence do that. That's why those games are better RPG's than Mass Effect.

.  No, I have an issue with Liara acting like my bff after I dumped her, three times, supported Javik against her, and disagreed with everyhlthing she said, that the game let me.

The Shadow Broker extends his knowledge for other knowledges, which is the purpose of the former Shadow Broker, prior LotSB. Liara still uses her information bank for the Alliance and the Council members and since she has good relations everywhere, it's a good thing to have her around. If she wasn't alive, the Lair of the Shadow Broker could've been taken over by someone else, maybe Cerberus and then Shepard and his team would've been in deeper troubles with all this information going around. Liara is ready to get her hands dirty to protect her friends and doesn't seem like the one kind of person who will blackmail others. In a way, she's doing a service to those people by not being like the former Shadow Broker.

You can be antagonistic to EDI and Miranda and TIM. But guess what? Miranda still helps you and doesn't walk off the ship. EDI still follows orders and doesn't get Shepard killed. TIM still helps Shepard out. You don't get a completely new story just because you don't like them.

So you're going to have to come up with some justifiction for why Shepard allows her to be the Shadow Broker despite hating and distrusting her. And some reason for Liara saving the body despite Shepard treating her like crap. So good luck with that.

Without Liara, you would not have found the Conduit, at least Liara never stops being useful in ME, unliek Tali who is useful for one scene then forced onto you, no matter what.

How is it a blatant lie? Did I leave out one or two characters? Sorry. I should say squadmates then.
