No hate at all, I just think she's unnecessary in ME3. She should've been optional and have had far less plot armor.

Exactly. Versus no matter what you do, Liara is your friend. You aren't capable of being mean to her or treating her like crap. You aren't able to dictate your relationship with her. Everyone else is different, except her. And she's arguably the one person who I want to do it to most.
That's a blatant lie.
How is it a blatant lie? Did I leave out one or two characters? Sorry. I should say squadmates then.

You realize that none of this disproves anything I said? Yes, having the Shadow Broker on your side could be useful, but that's never shown in the game in any meaningful way, and thus is a subplot that leads completely nowhere.Teddie Sage wrote...

Why would anyone need to be the Shadow Broker? Liara doesn't do anything important to the story in that role at any point in ME3. It makes one wonder why she was ever made to be the Shadow Broker at all (beyond "it sounded cool at the time").Teddie Sage wrote...

Liara is expendable. When we met Javik, we learnd that everything she new about the Protheans was a faux. Every technical role she has can be performed by either EDI or Tali.
My question would be: Would they want to fill her spot of the Shadow Broker? Tali? I don't think so. EDI? Well, she's a machine so she doesn't need to sleep that much, but being a Shadow Broker wouldn't give her satisfaction. She already has a role to do and it's to be the ship's AI and Joker's assistant.
The Shadow Broker extends his knowledge for other knowledges, which is the purpose of the former Shadow Broker, prior LotSB. Liara still uses her information bank for the Alliance and the Council members and since she has good relations everywhere, it's a good thing to have her around. If she wasn't alive, the Lair of the Shadow Broken could've been taken over by someone else, maybe Cerberus and then Shepard and his team would've been in deeper troubles with all this information going around. Liara is ready to get her hands dirty to protect her friends and doesn't seem like the one kind of person who will blackmail others. In a way, she's doing a service to those people by not being like the former Shadow Broker.

You can be antagonistic to EDI and Miranda and TIM. But guess what? Miranda still helps you and doesn't walk off the ship. EDI still follows orders and doesn't get Shepard killed. TIM still helps Shepard out. You don't get a completely new story just because you don't like them.
So you're going to have to come up with some justifiction for why Shepard allows her to be the Shadow Broker despite hating and distrusting her. And some reason for Liara saving the body despite hating Shepard treating her like crap. So good luck with that.

No, it's bias and I admit that. Still, that doesn't change the fact, that Liara was forced onto the player and is essentially immortal(beam run aside).Mr.House wrote...

You don't have to be nice to Liara at all in ME1. Also yes oyu can kil lhim off in ME2, at teh very end. He is still a forced companion no matter what and guess what? Not everyone kills a character because they don't like them, more so when teh character is in fact better in the next game. Who wuodl have thought.MassivelyEffective0730 wrote...

I can still kill him in ME2 you know...
I have to be nice to Liara through all 3 games, and I have to have her live. The only time I can't let her live, I pretty much damn the galaxy.

By this logic, almost every squadmate then has plot armor since most of them survive hazards.HYR 2.0 wrote...

YES she does.
She survives a bombing in LotSB because the plot demands it.
She survives the events of LotSB without Shepard's help because the plot demands her to live in ME3.

Actually, EDI is both unkillable (until the ending) and forced to be your friend; even after I repeatedly expressed my belief that synthetics weren't "alive", upset her by destroying the geth, and generally tried to pick the least friendly dialogue options available, she still told my Shepard that she felt alive because of his influence.Steelcan wrote...

In the next game yes, but not in the same game. Case to the point, you can treat Garrus, Tali and Liara liek garbage in ME, yet in ME2 they treat oyu like a good friend. You can do teh samething in ME2 and then in ME3 they still treat you like friends, the only diffrence is screwing over Tali in ME3 does in fact do something, yes with Garrus and Liara oyu are in a force friendship, but it's no diffrent with other characters.Steelcan wrote...
@Mr.House, you can treat he poorly, but she acts like you two are planning a wedding. She doesn't get the message, ever.
. That still is a bit of an antagonistic relationship. Reminds me of Aveline's 100% rivalry dialogue. Where she says Hawke always pushed her to be better.Cthulhu42 wrote...
